This tube is such a huge difference from the first one I bought! I had purchased a different tube and hydrometer from a different company (Brewers Elite). The hydrometer is great and I still use it. But the test tube from them Cheap POS. It had a few uses out of it before it just broke when placing the hydrometer in. I was being careful because it felt weak but I didn’t realize how weak. I didn’t even realize it broke until I went to take the SG reading and my sample had spilled all over. The Brewing America tube is definitely purpose built for this and the glass is thicker and everything about it is better!! No exaggeration, I’ve included photos so you can see the difference. One telling thing here, one company put their brand on it and the other is obviously bulk bought junk.

Exactly as needed and described.

The perfect glass cylinder for chemical titration. The rubber ring protects the glass from breaking if it's tipped over. Glass is extra clear and not slick but not grainy either. The cleaning cloth is amazing and works excellent for cleaning eyeglasses. Well worth the cost and is a value especially for 'lab ware'. Measurements are accurate and increments are easy to read.

This came in a single piece, unlike the last one I ordered. For those that care, there are NO measurements on this. it is just a well built NON GRADUATED tube. I was NOT expecting any marks, so that doesn't matter to me. IT WORKS just like it should, and for that, got 5 stars. Twice! I hated to post that it wasn't "easy to read," or "accuracy," with a single star. But, a shovel can't fix a car. This CANNOT "read," or be "accurate." (Just like that shovel can't fix a car.) However, the hydrometer used inside, CAN be easy to read, and can also be accurate. And, both were. (I guess some might think the hydrometer may be difficult to read in this, but I had NO issues.) Both a regular fermentation and "proof and traille" hydrometer.

I want to start off by saying I dropped this twice and has no chipped or cracked. Even put it in the dishwasher to see if any micro cracks formed (they would typically fully crack). This tube is still solid. I can get an accurate reading off a hydrometer with only 150ml of product versus 200-250ml other tubes take. The pour spout lip on the tube is quite handy and functional. The thick glass is remarkably clear making this my favorite tube for accurate readings. All my hydrometers fit inside this tube perfectly. This product has proven itself to be a great value for the money.

This is my first time making maple syrup. I just moved last year to a new home that has many maple trees and got super excited to start making it. When I was reading and researching how to make it and what I would need, I decided to purchase a hydrometer and test tube. I bought the hydrometer from this company and it is exquisite as well. The hydrometer I purchases is specifically for maple syrup but I know they sell them for many other types of testing as well. Lots of stores around me sell test tubes but they are the classic metal kind. All of the maple syrup supply stores that I visited online also only sell the metal kind. I chose to buy this one because it is clear and that makes reading the hydrometer very easy. As for ability to withstand heat, I have used it for many batches of syrup this year and I often test it right out of the currently boiling pot and the tube has been totally fine having boiling hot (~220*F) syrup poured into it. I am sure that it is a lot more breakable than the metal kind and it does feel delicate so I am just super duper careful when handling it. I always store it back in the box it came in and when I am not using it but still need it, I just push it up against the wall on the counter so that it has less chance of being bumped and falling over. Definitely a perfect product and I would continually purchase this item over any other test tube. Even if mine broke, I would buy this one again to replace it.
