Highly recommend
I have wanted artist grade pencils for a long time. I had a small set of 12 of s other brand not the same as these, but had in mind one of two choices, these or prismacolour. I read reviews on amazon and on artists websites gleaning knowledge on each. After some time it became obvious to me that prismascoliyr was the way to go. When I received the package I hoped they arrived intact, and wasn't disappointed. The pencils are set out in groups of 10 in one row of three in two tiers, 60 pencils in total. I had hoped they'd be in colour wheel order but they weren't, that wasn't an issue I merely changed them to how I wanted them ordered. They were all nicely pointed and had the names etched clearly on the barrel of each pencil, with good range of each colour. I was impressed with how vivid the colours were and how well they blended with each other. These are oil not wax pencils and so I wasn't sure how they'd react. I had bought a blending pencil from a different make, but for initial colouring they worked well together blending with each other in the family colour groups. I tried with blending those from different colour groups and was happy with how they blended too. The nibs are sturdy and strong, not brittle at all so took a good session of colouring, with only one tip breaking a tiny piece off. This I feel was more down to that that pencil was slightly too pointed to a too fine tip but the breakage was minimal and didnt affect my use of it as was still a nice sharp point. None I used broke, all appear to be made with high quality in mind. All the wood looks clean and new duty no dry or cracked wood, no gaps, no imperfections. The colours are vivid and true. With such a decent range of each colour, it's possible to colour match with most things you will wish to draw and colour. Those that you don't have, will be easy to mix and blend from those in the palette. Highly recommend.

Truly wonderful artist grade coloured pencils at amazing price.
Truly delightful artist grade coloured pencils at amazing price (worked out about £1.33 per pencil).A great range of bright vibrant colours in an attractive metal caseFaber Castell have been around since 1761 (still in the same family 9 generations later), and Polychromos pencils were first introduced in 2008.I can see why they are still so popular !

Better than prismacolour, last longer
These 12 pencils are great for the price, they are an oil based pencil and they lay down colour amazinglyThey sharpen to a fine point and blend really well, I actually prefer these to the prismacolour premier pencils, although you do need to use these a little differently to normal wax pencils, because they are oil based they slide on easily on the page so you do need to go in very lightly and add layersMy only issue with these was the colour range in the 12 set, the colours are very light, the light green is almost florescentI definately recommend getting the 12 set first if you're thinking of trying these pencils instead of buying the full set or a larger set, they're not for everyone and it does take awhile to get used to them after using wax pencils

A perfect gift
Purchased these as a gift for my granddaughter. She spends a lot of time on her artwork and says these are her favourite and best quality crayons yet.

Excelllent Value
I agree with all the other reviews in that these pencils are a brilliant purchase. Up until I found these I had been using Prismacolor by Sandford, which I was having to purchase from the US, but was then slammed with import charges on top of the cost of the pencils and it was becoming impossible for me to afford it. Same applied to Stonehenge paper which is very durable and perfect for coloured pencils. I loved the Prismacolor Pencils as they are so soft, but they are also quite tricky to use because they smudge easily. You can buy some Prismacolor singly on Ebay but you either have to pay the earth for them or you can only get a limited palette. I don't really know why I had never noticed the Polychromos before and I only found out about them by viewing another artist's pencil work which was absolutely stunning. So I bought a couple of these pencils singly on Ebay to try them out and I found them easier to use than the Prismacolor as they don't smudge as much, if at all. It then occurred to me to try Amazon for them and I found these 36 pencils in a box which is slightly less than a £1 a pencil which is amazing value and SO much cheaper than Prismacolor. So now I am stocked up again with a decent range of even more user friendly pencils, plus I can add to them by buying them singly on Ebay, AND I can now buy Stonehenge paper from either Ebay or Amazon, so I am very happy! So if you're dithering, dither no more - get a bargain and some lovely pencils to draw with :)
