Faber-Castell Pencil GRIP PLUS 07 Green Metallic

To my eye this is a seriously ugly looking product. I nearly didn't buy it because the photo put me off. The other reviews persuaded me to try one and I'm so glad I did. This is the best mechanical pencil I've ever used by far and I've tried scores of different brands and models. The chunky design makes it extremely comfortable to hold and use for long periods of time. I think it ships with B grade lead (not 100% sure) but this combined with the 0.7mm diameter makes it very smooth to write with. So far the lead hasn't snapped once whilst writing. I'm pleased that the tip is retractable so I can carry it around in a pocket without stabbing myself. The twist eraser is just brilliant. Most of the mechanical pencils I've owned had a tiny eraser hidden beneath a cap that wore out in no time. I ended up having to keep a separate eraser around. No need for that any longer. I've only been using the pencil for about a week so I can't comment on durability. However the product seems very well made for the money and feels solid enough to me. I would recommend one to anybody.

Because I had lost my previous Faber Castell I had had for years, I bought myself and a friend a replacement one in the lovely shade of green. They are very special, extremely comfortable to use and the lead lasts for ages, plus you get a superb rubber in the end. I use mine a lot and would thoroughly recommend this make, also the price is very good. P.S. Would you believe, I had my car serviced recently, and when I got into it , there was my lovely red missing F.C propelling pencil. When valeted the garage chap must have found it and put it on the dashboard for me, I was delighted, so now I have 2…….

I have always preferred to use an automatic pencil for writing and drawing but often find them frustrating when the leads break with too much pressure applied when writing. This pencil however suffers much less from this issue as there is a slight springiness to the lead which makes using this pencil very comfortable and less prone to breaking if you have a tendency to apply too much pressure, as I do. Another feature that I never realised I missed is the eraser. Most automatic pencils come with tiny erasers under the cap that gets worn down in no time at all, this one has a 4cm, twist out eraser that will actually last a long time.

Best ever mechanical pencil. Excellent size lead (0.7). Lovely soft and pliable lead too. So well balanced. Great grip. And an eraser that seems to go on forever. Easy to get replacement lead and erasers. My last one lasted a good few years. The clip finally broke (my bad for not looking after it properly).

Triangular grip is very comfortable: a good writing pencil. Retractable lead tube removes risk of sharp point in your pocket. Eraser twists to increase length, but its holder could be more secure so make certain it clicks into place when you change leads or you will lose them.

I'd been looking for a shorter propelling pencil to fit in a compartment on my reading glasses case, most are too long. This not only fits the bill but is a bit chunkier than usual and easier for a pensioner to hold. Just the job.
