Slashers & Secrets: Hellcrest Heights Book 1

I have read several of Andrea’s books and loved them all. But this one left me with mixed feelings- a lot of them. I loved the story plot- it’s a combination of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Scream”, but I wasn’t a huge fan of Lakyn’s. While there was nothing sexually with the other girls and guys, it was implied that her and her 3 best girl friends and 4 best guy friends all kinda just belonged to each other. The girls were the guys- no one else’s- except for Vienna and Creed, they’re exclusive. Yet the way he is with Lakyn is not friends only. He’s just as possessive and controlling. But what had me on the fence with Lakyn was her and Reigns history of being exclusive, now he’s back after 3 years and makes it clear she’s his only and she obviously has the same feelings, yet she allows Archer to make advances and touch her at every opportunity. And what she allowed to happen with the “killer” after what he did to her friend and others, and while still declaring her love to and for Reign- I couldn’t stand her for it. She played too many games of her own and was selfish. I kinda have a feeling who the “killer” is, from about 50/60% mark it was almost obvious, and I’m excited to dive into book 2 for the conclusion.

Premise: Lakyn Ashford has always been a loose cannon. She’s the wildcard amongst her loyal band of friends, and they would do anything for her. So when her wild streak goes too far, she and her friends are left holding a deadly secret. One that's worth killing for or being killed over.First off, I love the slasher subgenre and serial killers.I went into this expecting stereotypical slasher tropes, but what I got was the main character getting railed by the Slasher in full murder gear and a lot of blood play.Like full stop, could you imagine? You wake up; the killer is in your room. You realize you are dead; nothing is stopping it this time, and BAM. The dude wants to bang instead. But he's mad about it…cause he’s the killer, and you’re distracting him from his murder spree with your muff magic.BUT THEY ARE BOTH INTO IT.Hell, I was into it.But she can’t tell her friends, especially when she shares some weird non-sexual poly situationship with 7 of them, and no one is allowed to hook up outside the group. Ya know, never mind the fact that she is hooking up with the killer that's hunting them.Looking at you Laykn…sketchy girl. Real sketchy. The dramatic payoffs just keep coming in this book, but that's what happens when you mix love, secrets, and murder. Also, the book ends in one hell of a cliffhanger. I could have killed the author myself on that last page. Thank God book two is out now.

This book is a perfect setting for a horror movie or read. This book is a mystery that we have yet to solve. The cliffhanger leaves you 😮, it was quite intense. We also have several references from Lakyn and her crew for different horror movies such as;👻 I Know What You Did Last Summer😈 Scream🎃 an ode to Friday the 13thHonestly, the first book of this duet leaves you with so many questions! Lakyn had all the men of her crew obsessed and possessive of her. They are protective of ALL in the group, by Lakyn is special. Different. There is Creed who is with one of her best friends. There is Kyler who is touchy and possessive. Then we have Archer who attempted and failed a relationship with Lakyn. Finally we have Reign, the one who broke her heart, yet still has it.Reign is the one who is over the top. His jealously is strong and he is done sharing. Except he doesn’t know about Him. Lakyn and Him get close and 💥. We have no idea who exactly Him is. I have theories but for the life of me I cannot decide! The identity is revealed to Lakyn at the end, but not us. I cannot wait to find out who!!! Also, Him wants her dead, but after his feelings grew, he can’t decide. I can’t decide where this is going to go in regards to LAKYN and her love, but it makes it all the more interesting.I highly suggest this book, but if you can’t handle cliffhangers or intense mystery maybe way for book two of the duet to release!⚠️ v!olent themes with murd€r, abu$e and ass@ult ⚠️

AAAAAHHHHHH.. what the FFFF.. cliffhangers, to me, are equal parts delicious and also the bane of my whole entire existence.. and SHOOT did A.R. Breck really try me right now okay. crap..ok ok PAUSE.firstly, THIS BOOK IS POSSESSIVE REINCARNATED. like the whole vibe. if I had to summarize this book in one word it would be possesssssive. Reign is literally the most possessive dude in the world. And I am so here for it. There is just something about a delicious, possessive, sexy, strong, BA man… And add the fact that he wears joggers and a backwards, baseball cap! I die. Feral. Add to that the sexual tension, hell maybe just tension in general with him and archer, Creed, and Kyler,. That is an explosion waiting to happen, and boy did we see it happen. Lakyn you lucky SOBmy blood pressure was through the roof the whole time trying to figure out 1.Who the slasher was. And 2. When the guys were going to find out what the f*** she was doing. And now let’s get to that freaking ending. Shattered. I’m not gonna post any spoilers, but what I think happened and what happened better not actually be what happened. You feel me. I don’t even know if that makes sense. I’m not thinking clearly. I just need to know what happened and who the slasher is before I lose my mind. I am way too invested in this book and I have never had an ending sneak up on me so fast. As soon as I saw that I was at the end. I literally was like WTH lol.anyway, I’ve binged this in one sitting. This has made it to one of my top favorite books of this year, no doubt about it. Five star read if you love anything possessive, you will love this book. It’s giving me scream meats, I know what you did last summer vibes and add in sexy men.

Lots of questions left in this book, who is the killer?!?!? Story is pretty awesome. Lake has kinda of a weird relationship with her guys and of course is also sleeping with the killer. It might be weird but I honestly couldn’t stop reading it lol

This is so filled with suspense, the pages just fly till the end. This is one wild ride and I want/need more!

This was a scream, cross. I know what you did last summer. It's really well done, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'm not sure I've connected yet with Lakyn, I feel like she's manipulating the guys around her and won't choose who she wants. She wants her cake too. I like her with Reign, but if she loves him, I don't understand her actions. I do have suspicion who the slasher, hence her actions, but that cliffy though, can't wait to pick up the next book !

Definitely a great read in time for Halloween.Actually makes me wish this was a RH and the bad guy became apart of it 😅😅
