Pretty good!
Honestly, I read this in a day. I couldn't put it down!! While there are some typos and mistakes, overall it's a good book. My only real issue is how much Alex and Freya fight. Sometimes it's unrealistic the way they fly off the handle at each other of the littlest things. But for a debut book, it's really good. I wish it was spicier, for sure, but the plot is pretty solid. I love Alex, he's infuriating and adorable at the same time. I'm excited to read the rest of the series!

Not my fave!
Ummmm this book was not my fave! The constant back and forth between the main characters was exhausting!! I felt the ptsd was real and well done but the characters lacked a maturity. The way the female character talked about the male character's scars gave me a little ick. Also the side characters and how some people were treated was borderline abusive and the FMC/MC didn't even care. Also, the way the abusive husband was in the same town she was in and nothing was done was confusing and didn't even make since! I gave it 3 stars because I did finish it and the spice was good! It is a guaranteed HEA so go read it for yourself!

Damsel in distress heroic hero
Fresh is on the run from her abusive ex and accidentally lands in Little Hope due to a blown tier.Seems the good people of the tiny town are bent on matchmaking her with the towns reclusive war hero.Alex has lived in seclusion for years with a disfigurement blue yo his Navy years. The first person he communicate s with is Great asking if she needs help to change her tier.2-3 rough encounters between them and the match is lit.Enjoyed their interaction s, the small town vibe and the emotional intelligence of Freya. I totally want to be her friend she is exceptionally down to earth and strong.Definitely reading the nextbook

A good debut novel
Haunted Hearts by Ariana Crane 5 stars This is Ariana Crane’s debut novel and she absolutely rocked it. Alex and Freya are both damaged in their own ways but they come together wonderfully. What I loved was that they both inspired the other to get better. I loved Freya and her strength and her tenacity. Alex, baby boy, I loved that he finally opened himself up to Freya and his family despite the past. The spicy scenes were hot and heavy and you could feel the chemistry between these two. With an amazing couple, wonderful side characters, and the thriller like plot once when it picked up, Ariana Crane is an author to look out for in the future. I can’t wait for Kayla and Justin’s story and more of Little Hope, Maine! XTw for Domestic Abuse (not from the hero) and PTSD and violence (not to the heroine from the hero). Wonderfully done, Ariana!

Loathe the wishy-washy but
I didn't mind this one. There's a lot of indecisiveness for both Alex and Freya - either stay or go but lord pick one. I did enjoy that BOTH Freya and Alex had some major trauma to work through and they do/did to be better for each other. I can't decide how I feel about some of the things Alex did, some felt like his PTSD waas being used as an excuse to treat Freya (and others) badly. Seeing Alex work through his stuff would have been awesome na dwas needed. He just shows back up and BAM, happily ever after?I'm curious about Kayla and Justin so eventually I'll snap their story up.

Freya and Alex!
"He has a story written all over him, branding him. It’s a story of survival. And it’s beautiful."I really was not prepared for such BRILLIANT writing and storytelling! I had some appointments on this day and you could not put this book out of my hand. People looked confused at me when I talked to them while holding my kindle. You could not part me from it even if my life would depends on it. I loved how it felt so real with every decision and there where many moments when I would think how true this scene is or how sexy. When Freya and Alex met each other first she thinks he is an Serial Killer. Dark, Rainy, very sexy big man asking to help change your tire. Yeah. I would think the same. But this encounter is just the start of so many, sometimes hilarious and sometimes hot encounters. Their chemistry was over the top and the slow burn was soooo goooooood. Many important themes were talked and lived about and i loved how Miss Cane wrote about them in such a safe and perfect manner. If you love a slow-burn, small town, enemies to lovers, ex-military, laughing out loud, crying, emotional destroying, holding your heart while reading, then this is your new Book. (and series!)

Great Read
While scrolling through instagram as one does, I stumbled across a reel for this book and thought why not let’s give it a go. I seem to be in a small town romance kinda mood.Meet Freya who is on the run from her abusive ex and ends up getting stranded in a small town call Little Hope, Maine, USA. When it turns out her car will take a week to fix she finds herself staying with war vet Alex. Our grump MMC is struggling with a large dose of PTSD and small town gossip. While he tries to keep his distance, Freya finds a way of getting under his skin. This was a great read with a perfect blend of storytelling and character development. You can see how Freya and Alex are drawn to each other in-spite of their somewhat clashing personalities. Although you can 100% see this is due to their traumas not their core traits. The storyline did tackle some hard issues but was handled with care and respect - I did make me cry at times and I wanted wrap these trauma babies in a blanket at times. However the characters growth was great to see. Plus I loved the friendship that was formed between Freya & Kayla. I cannot wait to reach more about her backstory in book 2.If you love the below, you’ll love this book📍one bed📍small town📍slow burn📍grumpy x sunshine📍strangers to enemies to lovers📍military📍damaged MMC📍touch her and you’ll ☠️

Great story
Lots of action, great characters and a wonderful little town. Really enjoy the author's voice when telling the story. Great humour responds throughout!

3.5 stars
Was a good read, kept me engaged the entire time. No glaring spelling or grammatical issues that I noticed. I like Freya a lot, but I felt she forgave Alex's atrocious behaviour way too easily because hey he started kissing me. I needed more romance because so much of this was Alex being awful to Freya and taking his ex's side over and over. Even after he comes back it's completely forgiven with one apology, no grovelling, nada! I'll be reading the next one as it was actually that story that caught my attention, hoping for a heroine with more backbone and a hero a bit more worthy of the title. Also love some more spice in there 😉. All in all a good read to pass a couple of days and a great job for a debut novel!
