Bushnell - 12MP NatureView Essential HD - Green - Trail Camera - Low Glow - Wildlife - Outdoor - Animals - Wireless - Field Scan Mode - Nightvision - 119739

Just started to use it and first results are good, however the instructions are not easy to follow and some are just incorrect.

Bushnell NatureView HD low-glow essential-----------------------------------------Day-time stills badly under-exposed.I tried this camera using in local woodland and the daytime pictures were so under-exposed some were almost black. I sent the camera back and Amazon promptly sent a replacement. I did walk-tests with the camera inside and outside a garage entrance to control extraneous light, but pointing at the same view outside. With the camera outside the pictures were under-exposed but exposure was ok when the camera was inside the garage entrance. Night-time pictures were ok. I did not try video.The camera takes a minimum of 4xAA batteries but can hold 8. I tried 4 rechargeables, then 8. With 8 newly-charged batteries, the exposure of daytime stills was ok initially, but very soon they became under-exposed again. I tried 8xAA Lithium as recommended by Bushnell and found the same problem with under-exposure of daytime stills. To check that this was not just a problem with dull light or glare I tried mounting the camera between 2 other trail cameras of different makes (one cheaper, one more expensive), pointing at a bird feeder. The bushnell pictures were ALL under-exposed as compared with those from the other 2 trail cameras.I tried using photo editing software to lighten the under-exposed pictures. This works ok for slightly under-exposed images but there is a serious loss of detail with badly under-exposed ones. Either way, it's very time-consuming if you have captured a lot of images, and should not be necessary. If you want wildlife monitoring or survey of animals that are not exclusively nocturnal, it's hopeless. If you want photos of wildlife it's not up to the job either. I am sending it back and asking for a refund.Having experienced this problem I searched and found reviews or posts that report the same issue with Natureview HD models (e.g. see Birding Frontiers). I also looked at daytime stills from Bushnell trail cameras posted on a web site for a mammal survey project in County Durham, UK. Some of these were ok but a substantial number were under-exposed. Of the latter some were so dark that no detail or animals could be seen without editing the image.Either I was very unlucky to have 2 duds or Bushnell, we have a problem.

Please keep scrolling. Not only was the camera built extremely poor quality and unsurprisingly did not function, the after sales is even worse. Company based in Spain, shoddy camera returned almost a month ago and they are still refusing to issue a refund. Please save yourself the money and headaches and find another seller.

Bought this item for my husband as he wanted to record hedgehogs coming into our garden. Worked first couple of times then nothing. New batteries did not cure the problem. Although red light came on could not go into "set up" Expensive camera so would expect a lot more. Awaiting response from Bushnell regarding replacement.

Really disappointed. Used for a few days and picture quality etc was good but then the screen kept switching itself off in set up mode so I couldn't do anything with it. I sent it back in exchange for a new one and the new one does exactly the same thing- totally unusable.
