Fun, accurate, helpful for MLS courses
If you are taking these classes you already know there is a ton of material, especially for the micro parts. This book has a ton of pictures, tables, and such to help you remember the stuff. This helped me a lot during my MLS courses.

Way too funny!
I feel like a nerd because I actually enjoy reading this clinical microbiology book! Not only does this book offer valuable and updated information, but it’s also fun to read with all these hilarious tricks to help with my aging memory. I wish we had this book back in the days of med school.

Midway between review and text
I would call this a kind of hybrid book. It's between a microbiology textbook and something like First Aid — more information than a review resource would have, but not as much as Robbins or Schaecter have. The silly pictures and relaxed writing style helped me remember some concepts in a way akin to SketchyMicro. However, the book is not short — it's around 300 pages, although the print is fairly large and there are big pictures. I didn't get through the whole book during my micro course, what with all the other resources floating around. Still, I did benefit from reading through the half I completed — bacteria, antibiotics, and fungi. Not as high-yield as MicroCards or First Aid for review. Not a replacement for a proper textbook and course notes for learning the material. But as a companion resource, quite handy. Give it a look.

I used this during micro. It is ridiculous, ...
I used this during micro. It is ridiculous, but I will say that you will never forget "measles brand paint" (measles rash) or "gang of cycles knocking off the blood cells" (ganciclovir myelosuppression) months after reading this book.I studied plant pathology and microbiology as an undergrad however that gave me very little advantage in microbiology. In my opinion, microbiology is very abstract for most medical students since it is not feasible to teach medical students basic science microbiology and in all honesty its not relevant unless your going into ID. However, this book will teach you the most highly tested topics in a very memorable way. However, if you don't have a sense of humor and are the kind of person that likes reading Boron physiology over Costanzo physiology... this probably isn't for you.

DO NOT BUY HARDCOPY - it will fall apart in 1.5 weeks
Book is an alright comprehensive coverage of the basics in microbiology. Good for resource in medical school. HOWEVER, I highly DO NOT recommend the purchase of the physical copy of the book. Many other classmates also purchased this book and we all had the same problem. Within the first week and a half of use, the book's binding starts falling apart and pages start falling out, starting from the back. RECOMMENDATION: purchase or find an electronic version of this book, the hard-copy of the book will FALL APART on you; unless you have the money to buy another copy to use while you return your hardcopy that is falling apart during your micro section, likelihood is that your deadline to return/exchange the book will expire and you're left with a messy pile of paper you will be wasting money or time to fix.
