Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases

This is a great book for any death note fan and especially fans of L. There is not much action in this book but if you love the detective/smart problem solving side of death note you will love this book.

This is one of few books without pictures in it that I read on a regular basis; the font is larger than standard books I own so it's easier on my eyes and doesn't require me to use my glasses which is convenient should they be unavailable. The white sheet on the book is removable, and the black base is canvas in the copy I own and is very resilient. The card overlay did wear after a while and I had to remove it, but it's no major loss. I bought a second copy for a friend and she's a far more dedicated reader of books than I am, and even she enjoys this one and proudly shows it in her collection. A good read and a worthy purchase for any Death Note or murder-mystery fan.

As a huge Death Note fan, I was so excited to read this, btw. The idea of a prequel with L and a young Naomi Misora on a case is just awesome. This book totally delivers on the psychological mind games that made the original series so great. The mystery is super compelling, and seeing how L works in the field through Naomi’s eyes is really cool. The twist at the end with the killer, Beyond Birthday, is honestly brilliant and adds so much depth to the Death Note universe. Tbh though, it's not a perfect read. The pacing can feel a little slow at times, especially in the middle when they're just analyzing crime scene details. It's a murder mystery novel at its core, so it's not a fast-paced thriller like the manga. Also, the portrayal of Naomi is a bit different from how she was in the main series, which can be a little jarring. Overall, if you're a die-hard Death Note fan who wants more of L's genius and a deep dive into the universe's lore, this is a must-read. If you're looking for the same kind of supernatural, fast-paced action of the manga, you might be a little disappointed. But for me, it was a solid read and a great addition to the series.

Such a wonderful novel!! I expected it to be good, but my jaw dropped to the floor on a number of times, while reading the book. Especially the ending - I was literally staring at the book for about a minute, thinking to myself "Whaaaaat?!" Although I haven't read any detective novels, I would say that this one is great!! Definitely has its jawdropping moments. Would highly recommend it to any Death Note fan.

Absolutely wonderful book

Acquistato per mio figlio che adora il mondo manga. Preso in inglese perchè lui lo legge perfettamente ed è rimasto molto soddisfatto. Lo ha " divorato " in due giorni e fa parte di una trilogia ( se ho ben capito).

Très bonne livraison, j'ai reçu le livre un jour avant la fourchette de dates de livraison prévue. Le livre en lui-même est encore mieux que je l'imaginais, c'est un très bel objet ; les pages sont de qualités, le livre est solide, bref, parfait. Juste pour une chose, sinon ce ne serait pas drôle, et c'est pour ça que je ne mets pas la note maximale ; la couverture blanche du libre était abîmée lorsque j'ai ouvert mon colis. Bien que je me doute qu'il n'ait pas été envoyé comme ça, et que ce doit être la faute de la livraison, j'ai été malgré tout un peu déçue en voyant ça. Mis à part ça, excellent livre (tout est évidemment en anglais, pour ceux qui se demanderaient), et je le recommande à tous ceux qui aiment l'univers de Death Note, ou pour ceux qui s'intéressent simplement à BB.

Eine Mordserie in Los Angeles, welche selbst die Polizei vor ein Rätsel stellt, weckt das Interesse des als besten Detektiv der Welt gefeierten L - jemand, der weder seinen Namen noch sein Gesicht je preisgegeben hat Um den Fall lösen zu können, heuert er die FBI-Agentin Misora an, welche unter seiner Leitung auch bald wertvolle Hinweise entdeckt, die der Polizei entgangen sind. Schon bald jedoch wird ihr klar, dass der Täter außer den Morden noch ein anderes Motiv zu haben scheint - und als wäre das noch nicht genug, benimmt sich auch L selbst für seine Verhältnisse seltsam. Zum einen ist es ungewöhnlich, dass sich der renomierte Detektiv bei einem so vergleichsweise unbedeutenden Fall einmischt - für gewöhnlich tritt er erst dann in Aktion, wenn es bereits zehn Tote gab, oder 1 Million Dollar als Honorar angeboten werden, zum anderen scheint er den Killer zu kennen. Und wer ist dieser mysteriöse Privatdetektiv, welchen Misora bei der Lösung des Falles begegnet und der fest entschlossen ist, ihr bei der Aufklärung zu helfen? Zuerst war ich sehr skeptisch, da hier nicht die Original-Autoren von Death Note am Werk waren, dies stellte sich jedoch als unbegründeet heraus. Die Handlung ist gut durchdacht, neue Charaktere werden nahtlos in das Death Note Universum eingefügt. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Krimis ist der Schreibstil hier lockerer gehalten, was eine erfrischende Abwechslung darstellt. Die Geschichte selbst ist nicht überragend lang - ich habe das Buch an einem Abend durchgelesen - dafür ist man aber eher versucht, den Roman öfters zu lesen. Ansprechend finde ich auch den Wechsel zwischen den persönlichen Gedanken des Erzählers und der eigentlichen Geschichte, die Dialoge zwischen Misora und Ryuzaki regen des öfteren zum Schmunzeln an. Das Buch selbst erscheint in sehr guter Qualität: Ein optisch ansprechender Schutzumschlag ist vorhanden, zu Beginn werden verschiedene Papiersorten verwendet und eine qualitativ hochwertige Farbzeichnung ist auch dabei. Das Papier ist nicht zu dünn und hat einen leicht elfenbeinfarbene Tönung, was das Lesen angenehmer macht. Ich bin des Japanischen nicht mächtig, deshalb kann ich nicht entscheiden, welche Version sich genauer an die Vorlage hält - die Englische, oder die Deutsche. Was ich jedoch schon beurteilen kann ist welche Version sich angenehmer liest, und hier liegt die Englische eindeutig vorn. Die Sprache wirkt flüssiger mit besseren Ausdrücken, und obwohl es sich hier natürlich nicht um Shakespear handelt machen die Dialoge einfach Spaß und sind witzig. Auf Deutsch schaudert es mich wenn ich sehe, wie die Deutsche Sprache verhunzt wird - ich habe den Eindruck, dass zu wörtlich übersetzt wurde ohne auf die Eigenheiten der deutschen Sprache Rücksicht zu nehmen. Ganz zu schweigen von den vielen Rechtschreibfehlern... Auch von der Verarbeitung her liegt die Englische Fassung vorne (dickeres, hochwertiges Papier)
