Brilliant product !
This gadget is brilliant ! We have had a mole problem all summer & have tried all sorts of deterrents. Nothing worked & our lawn was totally wrecked. Then I came across this gadget & since it had such good reviews I decided to give it a go. I ordered it on a Tuesday, it arrived Wednesday & I carefully followed the other reviewers` instructions in washing it with soapy water, rinsing & handling it with rubber gloves. Having found the mole run with a very long screwdriver I put the trap in place & covered it with a plastic bowl as someone else suggested. Thursday morning I could not believe my eyes - no new mole hills (we had had over 30 !!) !! I removed the plastic bowl & found the trap had activated. One very large mole dispatched !! I only wish I had found this device sooner. If we get any more moles next year I will use it immediately. Amazing product. Very well designed, easy to use & extremely effective. An update to my original review. Having trapped a mole quickly in September & another the following May I have been chasing a mole around for several weeks. The cheeky blighter even tunnelled under my traps engulfing them in a large mole hill. I eventually twigged where I was going wrong. When I moved my traps, although I was wearing rubber garden gloves I think either my scent or the fact that soil was getting trapped in the mechanism meant it wasn’t working so efficiently so I was having no success. I then returned to basics & removed the traps, washed in soapy water, rinsed thoroughly & replaced in the tunnels wearing marigold gloves. Within 24 hours I had trapped the offender. In future I will always wash & replace the traps if I need to move them !

Initially good.
This trap was easy to use and I did catch a mole within the first few days. However, since then I have had nothing. The mechanism is stiff and the trigger won't action as it should. I have washed it in clean clear water as recommended by the manufacturer and exercised the mechanism but it still doesn't work properly. I would have returned it but am now out of time. I have caught more moles with the old fashioned claw type traps. Not worth the money and I cannot recommend this trap.Maybe I just had a faulty one but I wouldn't buy another.

The truth is I bought two of these while they were on offer simply to satisfy my curiosity
I've given this product a three star rating because it is perhaps not as adaptable to soil conditions as more traditional mole-traps but mainly because of the heavy price tag. The truth is I bought two of these while they were on offer simply to satisfy my curiosity . Professional mole-catchers tend to be dismissive of any but conventional metal traps-often without having actually handled the new product. Having said that; this trap is based upon a very old design ,albeit one made of string and wood rather than plastic. Despite reading negative comments on a pest control forum I became intrigued by the design and decided that I would add a couple to my armoury and make up my own mind about the trap's limitations rather than follow negative Internet wisdom. For use in shallow runs and crumbly soil there are cheaper and more efficient traps. But without giving away any trade secrets ; I found the Beagle easy to use and effective where the moles were running deeper and the soil was firm. Whether the traps will stand up to the long-term use remains to be seen .The ones I bought at discount have satisfied my curiosity and proved effective enough to rank as a successful purchase but not successful enough to tempt me into buying any at the full price! . Its a modern version of a very old

Having never had a mole problem before we did some research into the various ways of 'disposing' of our new resident and having
We arrived home from our holidays on Friday night to find around 20 new holes in our brand new lawn! Having never had a mole problem before we did some research into the various ways of 'disposing' of our new resident and having seen the reviews we decided to go for this easy set mole trap. It arrived yesterday morning and having followed the instructions we managed to find a small run and set it in about 5 mins. Having read about how clever the moles are at avoiding traps and the trouble that people go to to try and rid themselves of moles I was very unconvinced that it could be that easy. This morning we checked the trap to find it had been sprung ( the red handle is a great indicator) and Mr Mole was well and truly dead! It was really easy to dispose of him and obviously we can use the trap again should we need to. Brilliant! No hassle and 100% effective! Very happy to recommend this product.

Poor quality.
The traps do work well and are easy to position and catch. The problem is quality. I've just received two. One was fine, the other faulty. The spring disconnected. I have had this happen in use and repaired them but why should you have to do this with a new trap? Sent it back and received another the next day. Excellent service, however, I knew this had the same fault even before I opened the box. You can hear it rattling if you shake the trap / box. With this fault it will not operate. You should shake it, it should be quiet and then set and trigger it. It should easily operate. If not it's faulty and will not trap. Shame really as the idea is excellent.

Don’t waste your money
Bought one of these on the strength of the good reviews. I saw the bad reviews but thought that there are always some people who are negative about a product. Wish I had taken more notice and not wasted my money. The trap is easy to set, as it says in the blah blah. I thought that if it’s so simple an idiot could use it then it must be ok. Trouble is that with the one I bought there was no way a mole was going to spring the trap. Moving the trigger backward or forward didn’t spring the trap, no matter how hard you press on it. So there was no way that this useless thing was ever going to catch a mole. Tried it anyway just in case I had missed something and mr mole had some magical way of springing the trap, but of course he didn’t and just buried it under a new mole hill. Trigger still doesn’t work so will be sending back for a refund.Bought some conventional traps, which cost a lot less (about £6 each) and caught the mole within 24 hours.Don’t be an idiot like I was and waste your money on this cheap plastic rubbish. Conventional traps are no more difficult to set and actually work! RIP mr mole and no more mole hills.
