Finally, a solution for my holding my phone in my car.
I'm surprised how well this phone holder works. I applied the very thin plate on the outside of my phone case, inserted the 'wings' into my CD slot (haven't used it in years), tightened the knob until it was steady, then loosed the ring so that I could set the angle of the magnet, tightened it back up and now I have something I can practically throw my phone at and it catches it. No matter how hard I tap or swipe the screen, it stays put. Because I could set the angle myself, the way it faces me (especially for GPS) is perfect. The only downside, and this would vary from car stereo to car stereo, is that the slight pressure exerted by the 'wings' in the CD slot causes the row of stereo buttons directly below my CD slot to tighten up and become hard to press. In my particular case, this is a non-issue (I don't use those buttons), but I mention it because if you have critical buttons directly adjacent to your CD slot, the pressure of the holder could possibly deform your faceplate a little bit. As soon as I remove the holder, of course, the buttons are fine, the expansion isn't permanent. All in all, a big success in my car.

Big Fat "F". A good idea that is not fully debugged. Fix the problems.
The magnet needs to be stronger to keep your phone from rotating. I don't know anyone without a case on their phone and the magnet is barely able to hold the phone on through a thin plastic cover. The heavy phone is out on the end of a gooseneck arm that wants to rotate the entire device in the 12v outlet. Your 12v outlet needs to be strong and stiff AND deep. The outlet in the Porsche is shallow and not meant to support this kind of weight. The result is the cantilevered arm in not strongly mounted in the dash and the whole thing moves, easily drooping around to the side. additionally there are rubber ribs to help the fit in the 12v outlet hole, but they are soft rubber instead of hard rubber so they do not aid stability. This device could be much better with small changes but as it is I can't see it working.PS I tried it in a Toyota and it goes all the way into the 12v socket but the resulting stability is not much better. I conclude this cannot work in any car. A rigid mount is required for a phone mount to work, This fails completely.

Great Magnet!
First of all, this is specific to the CD mounting Magic Mount. (Just in case it gets mixed up in the other reviews) I purchased this first at a local store to try it out after my phone holder that was suctioned to my window fell off from the summer heat. I don't use my CD player (often) and the position of my CD player is compatible with this kind of device. In my car, Honda CRV, it sits at perfect height for me without obstructing like the window/suction types do.I purchased from Amazon (and am returning the other to my local store) because the price was HALF of what I paid. Hey, 10 bucks is 10 bucks these days.I agree with the other reviews that warn you of how it will impact your stereo, console area of your car. It sticks out just far enough for me that I can access the buttons that I need (I usually use my steering wheel controls-awesome huh?) when needed...which is rare. All in all I think, for the super sweet cost, it is a steal. It's not like the magnet is going to wear out like the silicone suction cups definitely will do at some point. That being said...I have had it fall off a couple of times but, since I was trying it out, I didn't adhere the magnet and I found that it slipped on occasion. I am still keeping it just between my phone and the case until I fully commit...but I don't see that it is going to be an issue. If you are looking for an alternative to the sticky, suction cup situation, I would totally recommend this CD mount. If you want to throw in a CD...it's not a big deal to move out of the way. Another bonus.

Design flaws prevent this from being a good phone mount
The product I got was the rearview mount for the phone. The setup is quite simple as the only parts this involves are the brackets that hook over the rearview mirror (this includes a short goose-neck connected to the magnet with a ball joint) and a couple of metal plates (one small and one a little larger) to attach to the phone. You hook the holder over the rearview mirror, then attach the metal plate to the phone and stick the phone onto the holder. In theory, this should be pretty much all there is to it, and the concept is great and admirable. The execution, however, is far from satisfactory. The phone mount has two adjustments: one for the top to bottom height of the hook that goes over the mirror (to accommodate mirrors that that are taller or shorter), and one for front to back (to accommodate mirrors of different thicknesses). The top to bottom adjustment is governed by a lever that you use to loosen the two claws that grasp the mirror, then you clamp them securely over the mirror and then push the lever to the locked position. This then prevents the mirror height adjustment from being disturbed.Unfortunately, there is no such hard lock for the mirror thickness adjustment. It is just a a ratcheted slide that seems secure initially. However, every time I try to take my phone off the mount, the magnetic hold is so strong that there is no way to prevent the phone mount from being disturbed. And this ratcheted slide is the first thing that gives. Almost invariably, this results in the mirror thickness adjustment coming loose, and I have to spend the next 30 seconds securing the phone mount to the mirror once again by adjusting the ratchets. Otherwise, the phone mount will fall off the mirror the next time you put your phone in it. Even worse, sometimes, the mirror itself changes positions as you try to juggle with the phone, the mount and everything else as you are trying to take the phone out of the mount. The idea is good, but the execution is fatally flawed. If the mirror thickness adjustment had been designed with another lever that does not allow the clamps to move freely without releasing it, things would have been great. As such, because of the hassles involved in keeping this mount secure (it is like I have to reinstall the mount every time after I take the phone from it), I will be returning this item. The search for a usable rearview mount continues.

Make Sure It's Built To Take on the Big Sized Smartphones
Umm, if one has a smaller mobile phone this would probably work. Scoche is my favourite brand, but my phone is too big.

Great idea to use the unused CD slot
Very strong, well made, sturdy.Only precaution is that if it’s not completely centred, there’s a chance to knock it off if you type aggressivelyExcellent idea to use the outdated CD Slot, as it covers the unused areas of the dash now, instead of the heat/air vents (Ford F150 2003)

Average and not as expected
The magnet to connect to your phone is average. Phone easily falls off on a bumpy road. The flexible neck is not very flexible. While you can charge your phone with the built in USB, it does not connect to your cars USB. If you want to still have your phone connected to your car to take advantage of Apple Care Play for example, you will still need to plug into your cars USB vs. the mount. The Blue LED is VERY bright and can be a little distracting at night. Used this for a week and now its in my electronics junk box!

Good quality but too big for VW Golf RearMirror. Better fit for pickup trucks or bigger rear mirrors
I have bought SCOSCHE MAGRVMB MagicMount Magnetic Phone/GPS Rear View Mirror Mount. Very fast shipping. Quality is great. BUT, it does not fit into my mirror. I have 2018 VW Golf, rear mirror is too small for this mount even tho we put it into the smallest setting on it. I had to put a rubber piece between mirror and mount to keep it on the mirror. Other than that, it is a good product but better for Pickup Trucks I think
