Fantastic!
Customer service from oddballs has been amazing! A small issue that was fixed within 24 hours, especially during a pandemic is more than I could have asked for. This was a birthday present for my child with autism and it kept his attention brilliantly. Will definitely be buying from these again, great customer service goes such a long way.

Good for Kids who Like Science
My daughter loves science and is always wanting to do experiments of some kind. We've done crystal growing before but this is a much more comprehensive set than we've used in the past so it has the potential to keep her busy for longer. As with most scientific kits, you can't just walk away and let a child get on with it. There can be a good deal of parental supervision involved. I normally get her to read the instructions out loud which is good reading practice and then we get on.The instructions were OK but a bit daunting to follow and there are different experiments from simple to more complicated.Making crystals can be fun but the worst part is the waiting because it can take days before you see finished results. For kids who are terribly impatient, this would probably bore them silly. My daughter likes to wait and see what happens - a bit like with growing plants.I think it's a pretty good set and contains all you need. The instructions could be better and I'd prefer something to watch so you can see an actual demonstration - just like you would at school.

Nice idea, could be better
This is an excellent idea but with one major drawback and a couple of minor ones. The major drawback is that the whole process of making crystals is slow, so unless you have a child with remarkable patience this will not keep any child with a short attention span occupied for long. It's a case of set up and do a few minutes of something followed by a few days of waiting. It also needs a lot of adult support so you really need to pick your times for when a child is engaged, on task and you have the time to dedicate to this. The minor drawbacks are that the instructions are badly laid out. They're in multiple languages which isn't a problem but unlike most manuals, which will have a short section in English then french etc so you only have a few pages to look at, here they have decided to scatter the different languages throughout the manual. So you have pages and pages of small fine text of which perhaps only a couple of paragraphs are in English. Nothing insurmountable but offputting for many children. It's a nice idea which could have been much better but then again for the cheap price amazon charge for this there's an element of what else did you expect.

Make crystals in many languages....
We've had other crystal sets before but the possibilities of this one are bigger than most; it contains a satisfying amount of kit from Petri dishes, to pipettes, 6 different chemicals and all the things you need as an 8 year old + doing science with an adult - this is not a toy and some of the chemicals could be dangerous if not used properly. This is made clear in the very comprehensive instructions. As far as the contents went my kids were particularly impressed by the safety glasses - kid sized - and the very good magnifying glass. Everything is of good quality and sure to please the budding scientist. What I like about the instructions is that it takes you through the stages of growing crystals from making a saturated solution to more ambitious experiments like making a fake geode in an egg shell and even fluorescent crystals. It's a bit of a shame that the packaging features a boy "Léo" - and that the only female in the booklet appears to be the parent helper. This didn't put my kids off particularly but is worth mentioning - in my experience girls are just as interested in Science as boys and rightly so - it would be nice to see this reflected in sets like this in a more obvious way. The instructions too could do with not being in multiple languages in the same booklet..It's in 6 European languages which is a bit much really! That said the English part is clear and easy to follow. You can use a microwave or saucepan to heat water for these experiments. Crystals take a while to grow, but that is all part of the fun here. Bar the slightly non equal ops packaging (not due to it being a French set I'm sure), and the slightly dense instruction booklet, this is a well designed and accessible lab - even if the name of it does make me think "Breaking Bad" I would happily recommend it - something I'd be likely to buy as a gift, this is a good set.

Great kit to keep kids busy especially those into magic
Great kit to keep kids busy especially those into magic, crystals and alchemy. There are so many different sets of crystals that can be grown using this kit, so many different colors and shapes. And all the necessary accessories are there.
