excellent addition to the kitchen.
I bought this simply to maintain a sharp blade on my knives....This may sound obvious but it can also be used for sharpening chisels (which I havent yet done incase I ruin the block).Wet the block and place it flat on a wet tea towel (to prevent it slipping). Push the knife along the block away from the body at an angle of approx 20 degrees. Repeat the process on the other side of the blade until you are satisfied with the sharpness of the blade. I tested the sharpness on a sheet of paper, if it cuts effortlessly, its done! This block is double sided, one side slightly more abrasive than the other. Always end with the smoother side.Overall, an excellent knife block at a great price. Be aware, the drop through the letter box may land with a bang as it is quite heavy. Packaged to prevent breakages though.

Knife Sharpening Stone
I did read the other reviews before deciding to get this stone, and I am very pleased that I did as its been great with all the kitchen knives. It arrived quickly and despite being a fairly heavy object it was well wrapped. Its easy to use and easy to clean. I would agree with others comments that a set of instuctions on how to sharpen knives would help, but to be honest its not difficult to work out the correct side to use! Overall a very good product and service

Good, easy results
I've used it on most of my knives now and it get's them all into a workable state. It works well as a reshaping stone before using a whetstone, or for tools. The results are comparable to that of a Fallknieven DC4 which is a well respected pocket sharpening stone used when camping, only as this stone is larger it's easier to use and also a third the price. You get a keen edge, but it won't be a polished razor finish. You can clearly still see abrasion marks like that of sandpaper once you're finished. It looses a star as the fine side isn't much finer than the course side, but it's a good all round stone for anyone who isn't after sushi chef sharp results and at the price who could complain?

Very good
Lots of folk will think any sharpening stone will do but it's not true. I've tried loads of different ones and for the price this is up there with the best. If you haven't used one before it does take a while to get used to what your doing and you will probably make your knives worse before they get better but as someone who can use a sharpening stone properly this does work very well. Size is more than adequate. I've used it on all my knives and it's still looking good and not looking all worn so have great expectation that this is going to last. Would recommend.

Marvellous
Using this sharpening stone, has given an old set of kitchen knives a new lease on life. We now always have very sharp knives, which helps when you cook, since blunt knives bruise the fresh food. I even used the stone to finish off sharpening the lawnmower blade. I must admit that it resonates emotionally with me as I recall my father regularly sharpening his pocket knife with a stone such as this and oil.

Received similiar item?
My order came from One_Stop_Shopping.I didn't quite receive the 'Kitchen Craft' brand product but I am assuming its a similar product since there are no detailed information about it.So here are the specs of my product I received.Aluminium Oxide Sharpening Stone by Neilsen.Model CT0130200x50x25mmGrit: 120/240-------------------Why I am disappointed.Firstly I should have saw that Amazon also stock this product so should have ordered from them instead.Makes returns much easier. The low Grit values are TOO low, Low grit = HEAVY scratching. it was causing more damage than sharpening. I only used the 240grit side and after sharpening, I see so many scratches on the blade edge. Not happy about this product. Seller requires me to send back product on own expense.

Too rough by half . . .
Bottom line - you get what you pay for, this was very cheap so I guess I can't complain too much . . . But - what was delivered what not the brand that was advertised - tho that may have made little difference to what was in the box. I've used various types of sharpening stones to put edges on scythes, garden implements and kitchem knives and this stone (IMHO) is way way too course (both sides) for anything other than perhaps shapening an axe, spade or a gripe (garden fork)! I wouldn't put my kitchn knives anywhere near it. Seller didn't provide info on the grit sizes and they are 120/240 on mine. I will struggle to fine a use for it. If you really want a stone to sharpen domestic implements (esp good kitchen knives), spend more money and get better product.
