This belt represents an excellent upgrade from a traditional belt!
What attracted me to this kind of belt in the first place is the stylish buckle and leather strap and the unique ratcheting mechanism used to tighten the belt. The ratchet notches are spaced about 1/4" apart, which means that the wearer can adjust the tightness to within about 1/4" (the holes in a traditional belt are spaced much farther apart.) This flexibility in belt tightness allows the wearer to find the optimal, most comfortable setting. To take the belt off, you simply lift the lever of the ratchet to disengage it, and then pull the strap out. It really is a pretty slick belt. The belt is also really easy to set up. It includes a disposable tape measure that allows the wearer to cut the belt to the right length. I actually didn't use the tape measure; rather, I put the belt at full length and then measured what length of leather I would like to remove to provide the ideal fit.IMPORTANT NOTE: When you cut the excess leather off of the end of the belt, make absolutely sure that you are cutting off the appropriate end. The tip that you guide through the buckle when you put the belt on is tapered; do not cut this end! Cut the flat end that does not taper; this is the end that will be attached permanently to the buckle once the excess is removed. Finally, I would advise that it is better to cut off too little of the excess leather than too much, as more can always be taken off later to fine-tune the length.Lastly, I want to thank the seller for being so helpful and concerned about my experience. They contacted me after my purchase to ensure that the shipping had gone smoothly and that I was satisfied with the product. They are a Mom and Pop type business that does great work, and it was my pleasure to do business with them.

Exceptional
I love it. No more holes that stretch out of shape. No more nailing a new hole in between the holes for that perfect fit. This belt has about 32 places for fit at 1/4 inch intervals. If you want to sit down for a stretch, you can easily loosed it up with the slide of a button. When you get up you just push it in for the perfect fit. I was a little worried about the buckle. Sometimes if the buckles are too big they pinch, but in this case, the buckle is a perfect width, about as wide as the leather so there is no pinching at all. I do not even notice it. The buckle and leather all appear to be excellent quality. The buckle is a shiny rustic gold and appears to be a very high quality. I think the price is reasonable as well. I probably will not go back to a standard belt ever again !!1/28/2020 - I have worn this every day and there is relatively little wear. The buckle still looks and works as if it is brand spanking new ! The belt is not as "straight" as it was, but you really cannot tell when you wear it and it does not wrinkle like leather. An excellent buy !!

Great quality...buckle hangs out a little too far.
The belt quality is very good. It looks nice and fits a wide variety of sizes because you size the belt yourself...which is easy because it has size markings on the back to indicate where to cut. The buckle also looks really nice. I think it was rubbing on the box during shipping or something because it had some light scuffing on one portion of it...not a big deal. No one can see it because no one better be getting that close to my belt. The only downside to the belt is that the buckle itself is a little too thick. it kind of hangs out a little more than I would like, but I think that is a result of the ratchet style and the thickness of the actual belt. I wear polo shirts a lot which I keep loose to cover the top thickness of the buckle, so it works out okay. Suggestions for improvement would be to reduce the belt thickness so you can reduce the buckle thickness. If that was taken care of, the belt would be perfect.

Fantastic belt for the price.
My first ratchet belt - some here have posted comments about issues. I'd like to address a couple.1. The release mechanism. I also had a difficult time figuring out the release mechanism. I recommend closing/cinching the belt without putting it on your body to play with the release before you put it on. Like one previous reviewer, I considered cutting it off when I couldn't figure it out a first. Unlike that reviewer, I took a breath and figured it out. Once you get it, it's remarkably easy even if it is a little bit difficult to pop the release (which is ideal, I think, so that it doesn't accidentally release while you're walking with your hands full, for instance.)2. Leather quality. It's a $19 belt with a ratchet mechanism. No, this isn't the finest Corinthian leather or pure calfskin. But it's leather, and it looks nice. Most importantly, the buckle is clean, smooth, and unobtrusive.3. Size. You have to cut it to fit. If you don't cut it to fit and you don't normally wear a size 44 belt, you're going to be very confused. The ratchet section doesn't go far enough down the belt unless you cut it to fit according to the instructions.Great belt, meets or exceeds all expectations.

Great belt, buy it.
First, let me caveat this review by saying I have not yet cut the belt to fit or worn the belt. However, the new belt looks very stylish yet also very substantial. It should wear well with jeans, casual slacks, or a suit. It appears to be very well made and of high-quality material. The buckle/ratchet assembly is also stylish and works very well. It's easy to adjust the belt to tighten it or loosen it. The belt comes with a fabric measuring tape sewn onto the end attached to the buckle. The tape indicates the belt length and makes it very easy to determine where to cut the belt to get the size you need. Be sure to leave a couple of inches beyond your waist size when you cut the belt length (per the manufacturer's instructions). I've compared the belt to another very similar belt that I already had that is made of the same material and that wears beautifully and has held up very well (still looks new after three years). If you need a nice black belt, buy this one.

Good quality, better than a normal belt.
Very nice belt. Easy to use with the ratchet Adjustment system. The only downside is the size of the buckle. It is bigger than I would normally buy. It’s not huge just bigger than I am used to. I will be buying another one with a smaller buckle.
