Dior and I brings the viewer inside the storied world of the Christian Dior fashion house with a privileged, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Raf Simons' first haute couture collection as its new artistic director - a true labor of love created by a dedicated group of collaborators. Melding the everyday, pressure-filled components of fashion with mysterious echoes from the iconic brand's past, the film is also a colorful homage to the seamstresses who serve Simons' vision. Review: This is a very good film and if you like fashion - This is a very good film and if you like fashion, it gives you a very good insight into the world of Haute Couture and how the clothes are made and the shows are put together. For me the real stars of the film are the women and men who work in the ateliers. They are these incredibly talented and skilled artisans who are so often overlooked as the designers and fashion houses get all the praise and attention. Review: Ninety riveting minutes. - I absolutely loved this documentary film about the House of Dior and the appointment of its new creative head, Raf Simons. The camera follows Raf as he gets to know the team (some of whom have been at Dior for forty years), learns about the unique demands of haute couture and puts together his first collection against a screaming deadline. The camera never intrudes, the music choices are spot on and the direction by Frédéric Tcheng is altogether perfect. Raf himself comes across as a really great guy with no pretensions whatsoever. I wish him well.

Hard to read subtitles
Subtitles are white on a mainly light background and difficult to read similar issue on The Act of Killing.

Interesting
Watched this having returned from the Dior exhibition in London. Interesting to see some of the clothes I'd just seen actually being created. I loved that it focused more on the ateliers rather than the main designer. Very interesting and recommended for anyone who enjoys fashion and design.

Slow-Burner
The first half of this documentary focuses mainly on the established Dior atelier getting a new creative director called Raf Simons. It is a generalized overview with two months to the catwalk show. The latter half of the documentary shows preparation for the show and the show itself. The ending is something of a spectacle. Throughout, reflections from the founder Christian Dior are also inter-cut with the modern footage.

MUST WATCH!!
A beautiful insight into a dying craft. The couturiers were the stars of this documentary, talented beyond belief!! Raf Simons is a true talent & he proves with this collection that to simply label him as a minimalist is both unfair & wrong. It inspired me as a budding designer to watch how Raf found his modern references & made them work within the legacy of Dior.

This docu-film provided a really interesting insight into the world of fashion and how Dior fashion house responds to the demanding changes of new people heading their creative team. Some really good behind the scenes knowledge that provides in-depth detail as to how the planning and creation of a fashion show occurs. Found it really interesting and would recommend for fashion fans.

Behind every successful artist/designer, brand, and atelier are the worker bees. Highlighting these extremely talented and dedicated artisans in such a thoughtful and reverential way was for me what made this extraordinary film worth watching. It'll inspire and ignite every artist to hold on and stay true to one's vision - no guts, no glory. It's just a beautiful, insightful film about honoring the past, while embracing the now. I highly recommend it.

Attenzione!
