Its external knob allows precise temperature control from 59°F to 93°F with memory function, while an out-of-water shutoff prevents overheating. The slim, flat design with strong suction cups fits discreetly in small tanks, making it ideal for bettas, turtles, and other small aquatic pets.

Keeping it warm
Bought this to replace a heater that did not have a thermostat. Tested it in a 2 gal tank along with a thermometer positioned on opposite wall. Worked great. Put it in my 5 gal tank, set for 80F for my betta. So far so good, no issues. It is behind the foam filter unit so heat is distributed through water and the thermometer on opposite wall is seeing same temp as given on thermostat. Happy with my purchase. Price seems fair to me.

5 Star Aquarium Heater!
Awesome. This is a great heater for smaller or shallow tanks in this compact form factor. The LED temperature readout is convenient and accurate. It also shows a green or red dot indicating if the heater is currently running. I will definitely

Best little heater
This brand never seems to fail. I love this little heater. I had it in a 10 gallon tank which had zero issues with keeping the tank just where I needed it. The temp gauge was easy to adjust. Very self explanatory.

Strong, reliable heater but weak suction cups
Excellent quality on the heater itself. It has 0 problems heating my 20g long. I like the real-time temp display. Minor complaints are: some heat discoloration on the housing, the black plastic is fading white from the heat; the suction cups are garbage and it will unstuck itself after a few hours. If you don't mind it just hanging by its cable from the rim of the tank, it's a great heater for the money.

13 month Expected Life before "EL" code flashes
The media could not be loaded. The item works good and I have liked all my hygger products before this one... at 13 months on use it flashed "EL" error code. Its still works but thats what they consider the "Expected Life" of the unit to be... 13 months. In 13 months yours will do the same. So plan on buying one annually. For this reason I would NOT purchase again. I'll spend a few more bucks and buy something that lasts several years!

Nice Heater
CLIFF NOTE VERSION: Both heater work very well. The Nicrew is smaller, less obtrusive, but not adjustable. The Hygger is a tad larger, is adjustable, and has a large red LED readout of the tank temperature.LONG VERSION: I have purchased mini-heaters in the past and they either didn't heat or fried the water. I long ago learned to do the bucket test. I purchased the Nicrew Mini (15 watt) and the Hygger (15 watt). The Nicrew is smaller with a preset stated as 76 degrees F. The Hygger is adjustable with a large LED readout. It is super easy to set. There’s a rheostat type adjuster that’s on the cord. The readout is on the heater. That makes it easy to bump the heat up or down without sticking your hand in the water. The downside is that the light on the heater is noticeable in the tank. You’ll want to hide it with plants or décor if you’re going for a natural look. Both were placed in a 3 gallon bucket of 70 degree water for one hour before plugging in. This is a manufacturer suggestion, and, IMHO, failing to do this is bad for the heater. The room was 70 degrees. I plugged them in and set the Hygger. An hour later both buckets of water were at 74-75. That temp held for 24 hours, even though the room temp dropped to 65 at night. I'm now using the Nicrew 15 watt in a 2.5 gallon tank and I’ve very happy with it. The Nicrew holds rock steady at 74. I'm keeping both heaters. I'll use the Hygger in the winter when the room temp is much colder and I may need to use the adjustable feature to compensate for the room/tank temps. I used a scientific thermometer for my readings. Big thumbs up for both heaters. I suggest you do the bucket test as heaters can vary.

nice...until it crapped out
I liked everything about this heater; inconspicuous in the tank, easy to set & read, kept accurate temp....then one day it just crapped out on me. Had the temp set at 77 (that is Fahrenheit for you Canadians) for my Goldies and it wouldn't heat past 70. Saw a bit of calcium deposit building up on the heating coil itself so dashed that off with a bit of Scotch Brite figuring that was the ticket...nope, nada, didn't heat. It lasted a solid 5 months; pretty deplorable for Hygger. 3 stars because I liked it, until I didn't.

Great Heater
I bought 2 of the 15 watt version to run a 2.5 gallon tank and have my 2 gallon water change container ready at the right temp. I've been running these for about a month now and am very pleased. The digital readout is great and the water has been staying a great temp for my Guppy Fry in my nursery tank. I will definitely be purchasing more Hyger equipment going forward. I just order 2 of the 50 watt to run my new 10 gallon tank on my setup. So I can keep the tank at a good temp as well as my water change container ready to go and keep the shock down on my fish.
