Does anyone know if it is actually 1/8 of an inch?** A: It does say 1/6" on the disc, I just measured it and its a little over 1/8" (like 3/16ths) **Q: Has anyone used this to roll out pasta?** A: It works great with the measurement height attachments on everything I've needed...roll out cookies and pie crusts. I'm sure it would be just as wonderful on pasta. **Q: do you know if the plastic rings on the ends are BPA free?** A: No. I don't know if the rings are BPA free; however, I wanted to point out that the rings should not come into contact with your dough. Used properly, the rings are outside the width of your dough and touch the counter surface, not the dough. The way I use this roller is to put the dough between 2 pieces of parchment paper and roll it. This one has changed my mind. Apart from being of the quality one would expect from Joseph Joseph, it's also quite versatile. I always had a problem judging the correct depth of whatever I was rolling. Not anymore. This one has detachable discs at either end. They're handily labeled in millimeters so you're guaranteed the correct depth every dime. Even the roller is marked by millimeters so you can roll out the correct width, and the markings have no impact on the pastry. It's like they're not there. Added to that, this roller is super easy to clean. I use it at least weekly (for over six months now).
