I had been using Skype via our Sony smart TV for the last three years and wasreally disappointed to see it come to an end. We used this to keep in touch with my parents. It's really important to be able to see the people you're talking to properly. So I was really pleased to read about the Sentab box.The customer support is, quite simply, the best I've ever encountered - If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask.The box itself is well put together, heavier than I'd anticipated, and worked perfectly straight away. I bought the box without a camera, hoping that the proprietary Sony webcam would function. Sadly it didn't, although the microphone in it did. So we replaced it with a Logitech camera and it's fantastic. The picture quality is slightly less detailed than the previous Skype setup, but it's perfectly good enough and suffers none of the flickers or freezes which, frankly, is much preferable.It's very easy to use and the optional apps look interesting. The Sentab network has already proved useful - being able to simply share photos and videos with my parents outside of the giant melting pot of Facebook is really nice. They really appreciate being able to view things on the TV screen rather than on a tablet.So although the end of Skype on smart TVs felt like a backwards, not to mention personally damaging, step, being able to upgrade to the Sentab box really has been a big positive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent alternative to Skype for Smart TV *by J***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 June 2018* Bought this for my elderly Mum so that we could better keep in touch. It hooks up reasonably well to a TV and to a home network. With the only minor gripe being that the supplied PSU is a European 2-pin so needs a Schuko adapter for use with a standard UK 3-pin electrical socket.In use, the box works well & provides video calling quality equivalent to Skype, but doesn't provide more sophisticated capabilities such as multi-user joint conference calls. Nevertheless, the Sentab app is easy to use and functional with a fairly straightforward user interface & is ideal for simple 1 to 1 video calls from either a smartphone or tablet. Whilst the app doesn't appear to adopt a landscape aspect in use, once you call and hook-up with the other caller and establish a video link it does adapt to either a portrait or more natural landscape aspect automatically by just turning the phone or tablet to suit.This Sentab box is much better suited to my Mum's home set up than a Nano PC & Skype installation which would have been probably twice as costly and more difficult for Mum to master the use of via her TV.
