What would you use perlite for compared to this?

Thank you for your question. Perlite can be used to open up the structure of composts to make it more free-draining. However vermiculite can be used as a seed covering over fine seeds in a seed tray, as well as a compost additive to help with drainage.

The bag is plastic. I always use my soil and vermiculite bags, as grow pots! They’re perfect for tomatoes, courgettes etc. Just add holes and they last season after season.

I am planting Spring bulbs in a planter. Should i mix this into the compost or just use compost? Thanks

I’m. It sure, but I think 4parts compost to 1 part vermiculite should be all right as the wetter weather is approaching anyway. I have not planted bulbs so can’t give a definite answer. Perhaps you should contact vermiculite or look on their website.

Is this pure vermiculite or it contains asbestos?

good Afternoon I can confirm that the Vermiculite used in our products is checked by an independent laboratory for the presence of mineral fibre. Asbestos has never been detected in any of our Vermiculite and we also ensure that we purchase from reliable sources where appropriate Asbestos protocols are in place. Vermiculite is sometimes associated with Asbestos because of an incident that took place many years ago in the US. We have never known of any cases of asbestos contamination in Vermiculite in the UK or Europe.
