Not cheap and forget about the presentation box that just serves to ensure they arrive in pristine condition these mills are of excellent design. Comfortable in the hand and easy to operate they are heavy and have a low centre of gravity and so are stable on the table or on a tray. Instability can be a problem in taller slimmer mills because the weight of batteries ( 6 ) and the motor is all at the top. The grind is adjustable on the pepper mill but not on the salt so the salt used has to be coarse. On unlocking the whole battery / motor part lifts away and can be stood down on a flat surface, the opening to the mill chamber is wide so filling is easy.

This pair of condiments are now in Australia less the ingredients of course. These mills are the best I have come across. It was a shame the postage was £10 and I couldn't get free postage even by applying for an Amazon credit card that failed to work. Of course I am now being hounded to complete the application again, some hope. Mills excellent, service need to try harder.

Firstly it was not Matt chrome. It was really difficult to assemble, when batteries inserted it was not easy to turn and fix the top to bottom and the grinding mechanism continued to grind when I had finished grinding!I returned and received refund which was appreciated.

I have the salt and pepper grinder set and overall its a decent set (if possibly a little bling, being electric and having a bulb to illuminate your plate as you grind).The one frustration is that the salt mill is super fussy as to the salt it will grind. The mini salt sachet provided in the box is processed very easily (these are large salt pearls or granuals). Unfortunately coarse salt flakes (Maldon, Cornish etc.) seem to defeat the mill and very little milled salt is produced regardless of how long you wait. As such I am experimenting with a few suppliers on line to see what the best salt for the mill is (its eye opening the variety availible but a bit tedious that such research is nessesary).Furthermore the mill is apparently only designed for sea rather than any type of rock salt (I suspect due to the relative hardness) so that reduces your options yet further.

The peppermill is great but the salt cellar requires a special salt before it will workMy previous model would work with any salt and so should this one.

I did a LOT of research into the best electric s/p grinders &, as these were consistently at the top. I’m confident I made the right choice. My sis has the taller version but I can’t stand a bunch of stuff on my counters in our already small house. These are absolutely perfect for small spaces. I bought a small tray to put them in since it doesn’t come with one and the lights on the grinders are really nice to have. Love the sleek silver and easy grip bases. Recommend!!

I have had this set for a few months now and absolutely love it. They are very quiet, the light is bright and even if you think why do you need a light on your pepper grinder - I will tell you its a great little bonus feature. The grind sizes are good - from quite fine to quite chunky - I will definitely be buying this set as houeswarming gifts in the future.
