Who doesn't love a prostitute
This film combined my too favourite things, a prostitute and a love story.I'm joking of course. I'm not a fan of love storiesEveryone has seen this film I am sure. So it comes down to the question around the transfer.Adequate is what I would call itIt's better than dvd but it's not great. You really do lack a lot of detail modern films have. This is an 11 year old transfer which to me resembles something of the early HD DVD transfers. Better than dvd but nothing special. Think 1080i not 1080pIt's £5.98 so well worth the extra cost to buy but don't expect to be amazed by it on your TV!

Seriously? This needs a review?
OK, so the tropes are dated, but, like Dirty Dancing, this is one of THOSE classic romantic movies! It is still a re-write of Pygmalion, but unlike My Fair Lady, I think Vivienne really comes out on top. I think that, for the eighties, this was the first movie to properly address that violence against women was wrong, even if that woman was in a sex profession.Other than that this does nothing for the Sisterhood. It appeals to a lot of the base desires of 80s teen girls - that some handsome man would come and sweep us off our feet with the promise of beautiful things and entry into elegant society. It think even the most modern millennial female or female identifying person will still clench a bit over the clothes shop scenes. Vivienne (Juliet Roberts) is a delightful and charming heroine who encompasses all of our little girl dreams. I remember saying to my stepmum after watching the movie with my friends when it came out (yes, I know that dates me) "He's (Richard Gere) quite handsome, for an old guy." I chuckle at my young self and still love this movie :D

when two fake lifes meet
I enjoyed watching this romantic comedy.Richard Gere (Edward) performed great, but Julia Roberts (Vivian) was not the right choice for her role, hooker. Her general stance is not a hooker.Edward is a New York corporate tycoon buying and selling companies. In one of his business trips, to Lose Angeles, he met with Vivian; a hooker. He asks her to escort him for a week; Vivian's response was an instant yes.She is to attend in his business socialising activitiesBut this deal twists to become a comic and romantic relation.Vivian triggers some empathy in ruthless money & business minded Edward, even to his own surprise, which results changes in the way he is doing business. And Edward also has an influence on Vivian who initially portrayed as classic hooker, and destined to be hooker.Vivian can not deny to herself she is in love with him.I think most impacting moment of the movie was at the end of the week where she rejects the payment from Edward just because Edward, unintentionally, reminds her that she is a prostitute. That moment was so intense; her reaction was like as if her life was total fake. Movie is great to show some such instances.I also loved some second characters performances, like Héctor Elizondo as Hotel Manager Barnard , as Elinor Donahue as Bridget in luxury women cloths shop.It is a strong psychology movie with comic and romantic storyIt shakes our strong attachments, flow of our life that could be all fake and fragile.

Great classical love story for 20th century
There is nothing to add to this movie. However, this version is better than the version released worldwide, as this anniversary version contains the deleted scenes which never should have been deleted in the beginning. The chemistry between main protagonists, Richard and Julia are wonderful. Well written script, crispy conversation, and great supporting actors and excellent music, this movie was destined to become super hit classics.Of course, in real world, this type of love never happens, Thus, humanity always yearn what they cannot attain. Great love story, totally different than AN OFFICER AND GENTLEMAN, but the essential theme is same, the purity of the women catches the hearts of men. All Glory to women all over the world.

Love is the most important thing
I had a lot of fun with this movie, as it has really fun seres. It's the movie that made Julia Roberts known around the world and she has an excellent performance as the protagonist, as well as her partner Richard Gere.In the end, love overcomes all obstacles.
