Good, Compact, budget lightweight pc - but whats the catch - Storage-sluggish-minimal or no tech support.
GREAT REVIEWS, GREAT PRICE, NICE AND COMPACT – SO WHAT’S THE CATCH?MINIX NEO Z83-4 Pro, Intel Cherry Trail Fanless... I needed a compact computer for use in the living room to replace an older one that had packed in. The living pc is used for general computing needs, browse news pages, shopping pages, travel, online shopping, social media and playing back online movies/TV etc. The old Acer mini computer did a sterling job on all these areas. The Minix arrived and I installed it and went through the process of setting it up, which was all a bit sluggish. Once completed I added a few things on the favourites tab for browsing, nothing much but some basic websites like BBC News, Gmail and so on. Within no time the computer attempted to undergo a necessary Windows 10 update, it did this for best part of a week, but failed because there was not enough space which was frustrating and worrying. It just wouldn’t complete the upgrade so I had to remove the favourites tab, and clean the storage space several times. I also purchased a TC card and moved everything & anything I could to the TC card and eventually after a lot of fiddling around I was able to upgrade Windows 10.There was much fiddling about and very little, if any assistance available from the Minix manufacturer which might be a problem for home users. There is a small and sparse user manual folded up inside the box containing this computer, the Type of user guide of six pages you might get with a mobile phone but nothing else. The box itself is cool, compact and lightweight, connectivity is good but already one of the USBs is not recognised and a second is not working at all and never has.Connected to a Sony 4K TV the picture image seems fine although it’s unclear if this is because of the Minix box or Song 4K upgrading. General performance, browsing, downloading etc. is ok but can lag or be sluggish. Being compact light this could be taken away for use on holidays etc. It’s a nice little machine at a reasonable price so for a cheap fix around the home this might come in handy.

Great little computer at a reasonable price
-Great little laptop, quite powerful to run all my software.-Good price.-Windows 10 Pro installed.Works well as a remote astronomy observatory system.TheSkyX, PHD2, Sequence Generator Pro, ASCOM and all major astronomy software run smoothly and concurrently.TIP:1 - Assign a fixed IP address to the Minix device.2 - Download an RDP software( such as Microsoft RDP ) to another computer, phone or tablet.3 - Connect and log-in to the Minix computer's IP address ( step 1 ) using the RDP software ( step 2) and you're in! You an also configure the Minix by connecting it to your TV via HDMI. A USB keyboard and a mouse are required.Downside:- Requires an external USB keyboard + mouse to set it up.- The wifi connection seems to drops more often than I'd have hoped but this could be due to my own wifi extender.Overall the Minix performs very well, exactly how I'd like it.

Small and silent home server, with power issues
Original review: Does exactly what it claims - runs Windows 10 Pro happily and with minimal power demands, making it perfect for an 'always on' home server. I'm not taxing it with anything massive like Exchange or SQL, nor trying to run an e-commerce site from it, but as a small, silent, home device it's great.Later update: The power connection seems a bit flaky. If you so much as look at the little plug in the back in the wrong way, the power can go off. Actually touch the thing and it's a certainty. At least the BIOS lets you set "boot on power restore" setting but that's hardly the point. Naturally, this behaviour has developed shortly after month 13, so even if it had a one-year warranty (and I haven't checked that) it would be outside that. Damn.

Probably the best option as a supplementary computer.
After several attempts to get a mini-PC working (not helped by Microsoft's automatic update fiasco just before Xmas) I bought this version. W10 PRO is essential as it allows proper remote management and better management of updates, which when it is attached to a TV is very useful. It is not the fastest PC in the world but streams video and captures audio so does the job I need it to do. You will need extra memory as none of these types of PC have enough. I put a 128GB card in mine. I also recommend a decent remote wireless keyboard such as Microsoft's branded one which has a tracker pad if using it away from a desk.

Disappointing
This is a neat little box and at a very basic level is fine. However the display port does not work and the TF card slot does not work. Both apparently due to the Windows Atom processor. This for us is an issue as we have run out of disk space (32Gb is not much more than Windows 10 uses) and we wanted to drive 2 displays off it. We got round the display by using a USB to VGA converter and we will try using a memory stick to supplement the memory, but we should not have to, we bought it with using the display port and the TF card as the plan.

Impressive!
Purchased to replace an aging desktop box for a non-technically minded family member.Requirements needed were simple browsing, online streaming and remote access for trouble shooting and admin.Simple to set-up, everything worked straight out of the box and was up and running in 15 minutes post Windows 10 updates.External storage added via USB for documents and photos etc.Very impressed with the form factor and ability to mount behind an existing display removing unwanted desktop clutter and cables.

Solid
This little MINIX NEO Z83-4 Pro has been a life saver. I have been able to leave this PC at work locations allowing me to remote into it and has saved me days of commuting. It's a solid PC with enough grunt to do basic PC stuff. It's not for games or 3D work obviously but it has been stable and reliable and on for the last 2 months without issue.
