## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do I buy an extra P9**
A: It looks like you can buy a single one here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-S7-Dual-Band-Coverage-Parental/dp/B0B8DXB715

**Q: Using the P9 in Router mode what settings do you use to enable ipv6 to work through bt broadband.**
A: Not sure about BT as I’m in Hull and our only choice is KCOM, I use mine on Access Point which works well, when I made enquiries re Router mode settings I was told you have to contact your provider for details. Sorry can’t be more helpful.

**Q: Do you still need a router with these? i am on virgin and simply have the supplied virgin router. thanks**
A: Hi. What you do is open the virgin router settings and switch the virgin router to modem...then connect the deco ....sounds difficult but its very easy ...

**Q: I have develo plug in wifi over powerline adapters can i still use these with the p9 system?**
A: Yes all Deco model can work in the mesh network.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product, that is super stable and provides greater wi-fi coverage across the home!
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 7 September 2021*

I live in a 2 storey Victorian mid-terraced (brick) house which suffered from weak signal / dropouts in the rear of my property (ground floor kitchen extension / upstairs rear bathroom) and in the back garden. The ISP provided router (Virgin Media SuperHub 3) is in the very front of my property on the ground floor.Adding these 3 TP-Link Deco routers has fixed the problem completely, and I am bathed in good wi-fi coverage throughout my entire home (both floors, including the kitchen / bathroom). I placed one in the kitchen window and this means I now have great wifi in my back garden too (ready for installing a wireless CCTV camera outside). The speed of my wifi has increased compared with my original ISP provided wifi too!Setting up the Deco routers was very easy. I decided to disable the wifi part of my ISP's rotuer (to reduce power consumption and amount of wi-fi signals flying around my home). This was the only challenge I faced in configuring the TP-Link Deco / integrating it into my existing set up. I recommend doing some homework for instructions on doing this first.. as when I did this I lost connectivity for some time for some ethernet connected devices. This turned out to be because I didn't disconnect some other Ethernet cables on the router first (and not realising that the VM SuperHub 3 can only work with ONE ethernet cable plugged in when in modem mode). I was able to then re-connect other devices (such as the Virgin Media TV box) by running the ethernet cable from the spare ethernet TP-Link Deco router instead). Once I had rebooted the VM Super Hub and the main TP-Link Deco router everything came back to life fully. I don't know why this works, but it does ;-)The physical units themselves are of good build quality and are more attractive to look at than many of the competitors mesh routers. I think it represents good value for money, especially compared with other products on the market with this level of features.A few features I particularly like are:* Ability to set up parental controls for younger family members.* Automatically turning off the status LEDs overnight (to help keep things dark when trying to sleep).* Transmitting signals over the mains power cables (which I think is helping with coverage in some areas of my home).* Ability to turn on WPS from the app (to speed up the connection process for some devices)* Notification when a device is added to the network.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow! So much better! / hmm so so
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 5 April 2022*

We live in a 3 bed Victorian terrace (London) using SKY Q as our broadband provider. Internet speed test (c.30 download, c.7 upload) check your speed for free by typing “speed test” into Google.Internet okay downstairs but is choppy upstairs (sometimes download drops to 7!) and sometimes signal falls out. This has been a real problem regards working from home. Video calls have been horrific at times, loading software, opening emails, internet searches.. Urgh. No explanation, just some days it works ok (not fine just ok) but sometimes everything is slow (very). Yes, I’m aware of actions to do, switching off every night, resetting sky box etc. but these have not fixed the problem.So.. I looked into this lots - wifi extenders, or this - a mesh system with “power line” backup.First off, just plugging a single unit into the sky box made an immediate difference (I don’t know why but it did). Noticeably different - speed tests upstairs were better, connection stable, video streaming and calls whilst using multiple devices.I did set up the other two units anyway just incase as the box came with 3 units.Setup, really simple, and took no longer than 20mins.Performance - wow. (Re. Powerline - I should add we had our house rewired last year so electrics are good and circuits are clear - but as stated earlier, our internet performance worked with just one unit). So £150.. but given our change in performance (and what it has meant for productivity) and the simplicity of setup - more than happy.I have tried other devices in the past (Apple airport express, wifi extenders) none have worked as well as this.Delighted.///Update July 2023.These are now disappointing. Why?Regular drop out, despite standing next to the unit and the app is not helpful nor is the support.I don’t know why these have stopped being useful, nothing changed but we were so fed up with our internet and service we switch provider and ditched these also.Keep in mind if your provider is not great, then these won’t make a difference.FWIW we were with Sky but service was abysmal despite being on the premium package. Regular throttling and slower speeds than advertised so we switched to a proper fibre broadband and no longer need these units

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Impressive user experience
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 20 August 2021*

This networking solution is refreshingly easy to set up. You plug the first Deco in to a power outlet, plug an ethernet cable in to one of the two ethernet ports and then continue the installation process via the smartphone app.My first deco is plugged into a powerline adaptor's ethernet cable which is connected to a Three mobile router (4g), running in normal mode. No need to change it to bridge mode or cable only.I have 3 floors so I have 2 decos in opposite ends of the ground floor and the 3rd at the top of the house on the 3rd floor.Everywhere now has excellent wifi signal. The 3rd floor gives me a full wifi signal and excellent throughput, which was the weakest point in the house prior to the Decos arriving..I am surprised at the throughput to, for example, my bathroom. The router is pulling ~60mbps and across the house I am now receiving ~55mbps...over wifi! Very impressive. If you are to unplug or restart the Decos they do take a little while to reboot and start working again. 3-5 minutes I would estimate. The app is solid though, a really good, clear and easy to use app showing you simple enough info to know whats going on at a glance. But its great at showing a little bit more detail (shows you what devices are connected and how much data they're pulling real time). The settings are the same too, simple stuff is clear and easy to find and change. Then the more advanced settings are a couple of clicks away. Anything you change has an explanation to tell you what the effects of the change will be.TP-Link's support material on the website is fantastic.I have one LAN/ethernet device connected. Its a grandstream SIP phone hub, which incidentally wouldn't work with the Decos on installation. 5 minutes later having consulted TP-link's support website, which told me to flick a switch in the settings menu (disable SIP), and my phone was back up and working.Only issues I have encountered are the power supply plug and cable. It is quite difficult to get the power lead into the back of the deco due to there being a small void to slot the power lead through and into the socket on the unit. Annoyingly tricky, albeit a minor issue. And the plug unit itself is quite bulky which can limit where you plug these things in. 2 of my locations were made difficult due to the size of the plug. Minor issues though. I highly recommend these.
