Review: Beautiful series - Our son has fallen in love with Oliver Jeffers's books, which we've been buying him one at a time as a treat every few months. The images are lovely, but the story is even better - easily understood by a toddler, teaching the importance of friendship, helping each other and even backgammon! Review: beautifully written and illustrated - A penguin wants to learn to fly, but none of his plans work out. So he joins the circus as a penguin cannonball. Can his friend the boy save him before it's too late? It's a children's story, so of course he can. Simple, beautifully written and illustrated. We love it.

great for young toddlers
Another great condition used book Clearly has been taken care of. The stories by Jeffers are so heart warming and the artwork adds so much more depth. Great books for young toddlers who are beginning to take more of an interest in the story books they are being read.

Another great Oliver Jeffers book
Up and Down is a beautifully painted story about the Boy and the Penguin (who first met in Lost and Found) and the Penguin's attempts to fly. My 2.5 year old loves this book and it is a gentle and touching story about friendship. The narrative does not flow quite as well as any of the earlier books in the series (Lost And Found, The Way Back Home and How To Catch A Star), but is still a wonderful charming book.

The story is simple and beautifully told
There was once a penguin who decided it wished to fly. It did have wings afterall! Not a novelty starting point, but the drawings and the story are told with such sweetness and coziness that you will love it as much as your little one. Best part, for me, besides the visual appeal, is that it is easy for even very young children to follow along and react to specific points or sentences of the story, repeating words or parts of it. Easy to create interaction while reading it out loud.

What A Lovely Book
What a lovely book! I am a big fan of Oliver Jeffers and already had 'How to Catch A Star'. This is a great story for children 3 to 7 year olds. Great illustrations and the book gives different points for discussion with your child. Would definitely recommend.

GREAT addition to your child's library, it's clever, funny and heart-warming!
A wonderful book for a young child, we've read it so many times, it's lovely and heart-warming. Only a bit too basic for my nearly 4 yrs old, but every child is different (we have been reading 5-10 books every evening since she was two so perhaps that's the reason why she needs more complex stories!). I will definitely keep this book for my children and grandchildren, it's a classic and is clever, funny and heart-warming just as you would expect from the author! <3

Love Oliver Jeffers
I love Oliver Jeffers and all his books. My granddaughter also seems to love them, and we read them over and over. Because the pictures are so wonderful, you can read as much or as little as you like and talk about the pictures. A great way of interacting.

Un libro dolcissimo, degno seguito di Lost&found. Inglese semplice da fare leggere a bambini della primaria.

My 2.5 year old son loves to be read to and many of the kids books nowadays are wonderful even for adults. Up and Down does a great job involving the parent and child with great visuals. It's about a boy and a penguin who are great friends and the penguin wants to fly because he has wings. In an effort to do so, he has the boy try to help him with various endeavors but none work. He then heads off to become a "Human" Cannonball but gets separated from his friend. The problem with being a cannonball is that he wasn't sure how he was going to land or where? The boy frantically searches for the penguin and sees a poster of him performing that night and runs to catch him-which he does (SPOILER ALERT!). They are happily reunited again. I HIGHLY recommend you also purchase LOST AND FOUND which is the Prequel to this book about the same boy and penguin. They are sort of companion stories and brings much more depth when read together with Up and Down. Their human/penguin friendships is heart-warming and the type of friendship I would hope for with my children and others.
