Setup Tips
It took a bit of tweaking to set up.First, it seems that your smartphone needs to be connected to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network ONLY. Many (most?) people have a WiFi network SSID (the network name) that allows roaming between the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz bands. I could not get the smartphone and the device paired unless I put my phone onto an SSID that ONLY worked in the 2.4 GHz band. This may take some doing on your part. It doesn't mean you have to change your existing SSID, but you do have to create or use an SSID that is 2.4 GHz only during the setup. Then you can switch your phone back to your regular SSID and leave the new 2.4 GHz SSID for this device. The nice instruction pamphlet, in step #2, says to look for the "Electronic Outlets" category in the Smart Life app. There isn't one. Instead, there is an "Electrical" category and I simply chose the very first device called "Socket (Wi-Fi)" as my device that I was trying to install. Later on, once it pairs, it figures out exactly what kind of device it paired to.It did take a few tries to pair. I don't know if that was because of my 2.4 GHz SSID problem or what. Be persistent.MAKE NOTE OF THE email AND password you used to create your Smart Life account.Anyways, once paired, you can use the Smart Life app to turn on/off any or all of the plugs at set times. I wanted to do something more complicated. I want to turn on the plugs at sunset and then turn them off at a set time. For that, I followed the pamphlet's third major section on integrating it with the IFTT.com service. To integrate with IFTTT, create an IFTTT account (I did it via the website, but smartphone looks the same), and then you can link to your Smart Life device using the Smart Life email and password you kept track of above. To do my turn on at sunset trigger, I created a new IFTTT, searched for "sunset" in the IFTTT application search box and found that Weather Underground seemed to have the right app. Sure enough, Weather Underground has this app that once you give it your location, it will create a trigger that turns on about 10-15 minutes before sunset.Anyways, it is working now, we shall see if it continues working!

Works, but no help from company
I was looking for a smart exterior outlet to control my patio lighting. I previously had a dusk to dawn sensor that really did not work too well. Since the sensor controlled lights, it would often just blink continuously (it is dark so turn on the lights; now it is light so turn them off...and so on). Yes, this smart outlet is really overkill for what I wanted. I really just wanted an intelligent dusk to dawn sensor such that it would know the local sunset and sunrise times and turn them on and off. I don't want them coming on during dark storms during the daylight or cutting off due to lightning at night. A key step in the install is to select the power strip then connect it to the app. There are 3 options to connect the outlet (wifi, zigbee, other). Zero instructions on packaging, instruction materials, app, or product itself on which option to select. I just picked wifi which seemed to work but then I could only use the app to turn the product on and off. No intelligence light timer or dusk to dawn. I then call the company 6 times--three times to each of their automated voice routing options. This was during their published working hours. In all 6 cases, I was put on hold then disconnected. I eventually kept playing with the app until I figured out how to get the dusk to dawn feature working (it wasn't easy). With no way to test it on the app, I just waited until dark to see if they came on. They did not. Next day, I tried a different route on the app and found the correct way to do it. Worked as planned on night #2. Feeling good, I then tried to connect it to Alexa by adding the Smart Life skill...it seemed to work fine but then my outlet just disappeared from the app. I had to start all over by adding the device and setting up the cumbersome programming again. It now appears to work as intended: dusk to dawn and voice command to turn on and off through Alexa. So...after much frustration and days of playing with it, the smart outlet finally works as I expected it should. I give it 3 stars because it finally works but there is poor/no documentation, no customer service number that answers, and a very cumbersome app.

Perfect for the holidays!
For years I used outdoor timers for my Christmas lights, they worked well for the 10+ years I used them but they had a couple issues in my configuration. With real hard rains my GFI will trip, and the units lose the the time and programming. I have to reset them manually. They also turn off and on at different time, albeit only a minute or two but their different. They are also all on or all off, there's no individual socket control.I bought four (4) of these to replace those older units, and to address some of the issues listed above. While these don't address the GFI tripping issue, they are controlled with the Smart Life application (iPhone) where I can control each individual socket. There's no need to set timers here - it uses the phones time. I've enabled Automation there and they all come on and off at the exact same time! These are a fraction of the size, and very easy to configure.I'm very happy with this purchase, and would recommend them to others.
