Q: Can mud be rinsed off of them?

Off the sole, yes. They do gather mud etc! If you have not bought yet then look carefully at the sizing. I bought an 8 but unless you have a narrow foot then you would need a bigger size! I find them very tight and cannot add my high instep sole as no room. Am beginning to wish i had not bought them!!!

No they don't have good sole grip in icey ground. They are very warm and comfortable.
