Works very well
This works very well. I did find that I had a experiment a bit with finding the correct blade, it was a complete failure with some blades and then worked great with other blades — I chalk this up to my own inexperience and user error. So you need to use the correct blade for your application/material but once you dial in the blade and heat settings, it’s perfect. Just expect a bit of trial and error if you are like me and you haven’t used one of these before.

Pretty awesome electric hot knife
The media could not be loaded. I just received this today and couldn't wait to try it out. So, it was kind of difficult getting the blades into the tool because I didn't want to cut myself. I think the next time, I'll wear some gloves. Okay, so once I struggled to get the blade in (I cut that footage out, lol), I plugged it up. It doesn't have an off/on switch, so don't lay it down without unplugging it! It has a temp wheel for min to max temp. As you can see in my video, I was cutting some crafting foam to start out and had it on max and it started to flame. So, make sure you start off on low/min temp and work up, depending on the material. I then tried it out on some scrap foam board I had on hand and it takes a little higher temp. I was able to cut it and also cut out a circle in the foam. I wished I had this little electric hot knife two months ago when I had to make a giant #40 using foam board. It would have made it a lot quicker to get the pieces cut. Overall, I think this little tool will be a crafters dream to get foam cutting projects done quicker. I don't remember what types of material this can cut, but it cuts foam board for sure.

NO HEAT!
This hot knife gun does NOT get hot enough to cut even foam! After 2 seconds the red light starts blinking, indicating that the knife is getting "too hot". It hasn't even warmed up!! It wouldn't cut styrofoam! So it is useless to me. My $10. needle hot tool works much better. Enormous disappointment. It is being returned.

This is the tool I didn’t know I needed.
Absolutely perfect for slicing up plastic project boxes or removing pieces of plastic housing that I want to save. It also has plenty of power. I had to turn the power down because at max it was too hot for what I was doing. It came with a variety knife blades for different applications. I am a little annoyed that two of the four screws used to hold the blades to the knife were loose in the storage case. Also, the hook that goes on the butt of the gun. Would it really have driven up the cost that much if you just went ahead and attached them where they were means to go?It’s too bad that this didn’t come with some tips for plastic welding. In theory it should absolutely work for that give the correct tips. Then this would be an even better tool. There are two threaded ports on the underside of the tool which I have no idea what they are for but based on the shape inside the box, it kind of looks like an accessory of some kind should go there. Speaking of the box, it holds everything well and getting everything back into the case doesn’t require you to find the perfect position for every item. Just some basic placement consideration is all it takes to get everything back into it. I do feel the need to grumble that the tool doesn’t fit in the case with the blades attached.

Amazing on any synthetics - plastic, ropes, straps...
I've used this to trim and clean up 3D prints, "weld" plastic together, cut rope, cut straps, and more. Plus it will accept other accessory tips, so you can really go to town with different foams. The carrying case is an added bonus, but I wish there was a compartment for the tips. I used an old Mentos box and stuck it in the case.

Life gets easier
Received this electric hot knife. I always used a blade to cut foam board. Now things go much quicker and best of all much easier. Don't know how I got along without this great tool.
