Worked well
I wanted to dig four 50cm deep post-holes without digging up half my garden, so I bought this hoping it would be up to the task - thankfully it was.My garden soil has a layer of clay 30cm down, but this managed to excavate through it just fine, we just needed to scrape the digger blades clean in-between scoops, as the clay-rich soil tended to stick. It performed the task well, however I don't have much use for it anymore and it's quite big, so it's now just taking up space in my shed.

Nice and light but need modification
Cheap, sturdy and surprisingly light but they don’t open far enough to be effective so the stoppers need grinding off

Turdy
I haven’t actually used the tool yet but first impressions are good.

Great tool
I purchased this post hole digger, not for post holes, but for large holes to take mature Mediterranean plants and palm trees. We are situated on clay but the digger was easy to remove reasonable loads of soil and clay at each stroke. One hole for a very large plant was 25 inches deep and18 inches wide and the only restriction in its use was my lack of experience in using the tool. Would certainly recommend for the use I had bought it for. It was easy to use once I had the rhythm and is excellent value for money and a shame I probably won't need it in the future.
