It may sound obvious but its main feature is to measure distance - push along and measure, I then input that measure to spreadsheet manually. You can buy a cable and somehow it populates a spreadsheet. For my use I don't see the benefit as I think that I would spend more time fiddling with that sheet rather than what I was supposed to be doing. Other people may find it useful. The measurer is so easy to use. Its easy to input the scale, turn off the beeps (tracking beeps and button pressing). You can also lock off the scale so that you don't accidentally press the buttons and muck-up your measure. There's more things that you can do but I have not utilised these features as yet. It came in a nice box with instructions. The instructions look complicated but if you take your time and a bit of common sense you will be fine. I have bought a neoprene cover (sold elsewhere) and it will be safe and secure in my draw. Very happy. If the property has a curved line, this tool will be of no use, unless you can make enough rectangles to fill in most of the curved area. I have yet to read the instructions on its many other uses but so far I am very pleased with it. It comes in a good and study box no bigger than a typical scientific calculator, which keeps it from getting damaged. Comes already with 2nr "CR2032" batteries ready for using. I bought this based on the many great reviews I read on amazon and it doesn't disappoint. I'm an estimator by trade and got fed up with getting the scale rule out, only to find I didn't have the right scale.
