A great cosmology primer
If you have a 10 or 11-year-old interested in space (or possibly even younger), this book is a great extension from the basic positional astronomy, where many of us start our fascination with the heavens. ]I must confess my knowledge of space and the universe is a little rusty, so I found this book very interesting too. It's a great way to catch back up.Being a "very short introduction" the information is cut up into bite-size chunks, and backed up with some great illustrations. I do like this series, it is great for breaking down large and complex topics. And topics don't get much larger than the universe!Thoroughly recommended!

Surprisingly decent book for the budding cosmologist
I did some electives in cosmology and astrophysics at university, and I figured that my youngling nephew might also be interested. He's very inquisitive about, well, everything. The book was a lot smaller than expected in terms of dimensions, but that just aids in holding of it by little hands. The book is full of interesting titbits, surprisingly accurate too, and has helpful drawings, diagrams, and actual photos. The language used is easy to follow (with some minor adult help) and I would say yeah it is pitched well at the 8 to 12 year old range the listing suggests.Unfortunately, the youngling wasn't as enthralled with it as I was, I guess I shouldn't have introduced the book to him when he was playing on his Nintendo, but it's there if he does take a fancy to it, and he may just do that...
