**Q: Is this tripod too big for a table top?**
A: Thanks for asking, I didn't know your table size. As long as your table surface is not too small, you can put a tripod on it.

**Q: Does this stand hold a 71L x 71W baackdrop**
A: Yes.

**Q: What is adjustable width?**
A: I returned this item as it did not worked very well for what I needed.  As for adjustable width I am not sure how that would work as the top horizontal pole is in sections with a cord running thru it,  Maybe dropping the end sections down instead of connecting them?
