"Who the **** are you?" "Death!"
If you're looking at this then you probably have some idea what to expect. No, these aren't high-concept, high production value Oscar bait, but since I'm not a big fan of that kind of pretentious crap, that's have no problem for me! The first two are quite gritty, and I'd caution that two features a rape scene at the start I had to skip through, and I'm no pansy-ass SJW. But it also features one of my favourite Bronson kill scenes ("You believe in Jesus?"), so that balances it out. Three is pure, glorious mayhem, and four is probably my favourite overall, for the interesting plot and excellent Bronson one-liners alone. Five is probably the most formulaic of the lot, but makes up for that with Lesley-Anne Down and some of the most inventive kill scenes. The Death Wish films are old-school, utterly unapologetic violent masterpieces, with powerhouse central performances from the man himself, the late Charles Bronson. You could never get away with making films like these unironically nowadays, and that's why I love 'em!Bonus: Rewatching them, I had a blast picking out Jeff Goldblum, Alex Winter, Laurence Fishburn and The X-Files' Mitch Pileggi in early roles as assorted scumbags!
