Would this be big/strong enough to pick up windfall apples?

I bought 2 and both of them broke. First one broke whilst picking up an empty plastic bottle, the second one broke when I picked up a crisp packet with a bit of water in it. Neither lasted more than 3 uses

Brand new and it broke because I picked up a crisp packet with a bit of water in it. My other one broke when I picked up an empty plastic bottle. So I would say not really... maybe a letter or something on it's own, more than 2 letters though its tempremental
