Fab item!
I have a serious problem with cat hair, since my short haired domestic cat sheds like a maniac. I have had cats all my life and none shed like this. It was so serious we had hair in the car when the cat was never there, our bed was nicely covered with white hair all over (he sleeps there when we are working and refuses to sleep in a cat bed) and we had to wash our hands after petting him from all the stuck hair. It was an embarrassment when visitors petted him and went home with white cat hair on their clothes.Did I mention I brushed him every day? Yep, it didn't do much, although he loves it so much he still asks for it every night.I bought this after reading several reviews and balancing pros/cons of spending more than twice on a "branded" brush..The brush was tested immediately on arrival, and after three weeks I noticed a few things:- I wish I had gotten a smaller brush: my cat likes to have his neck brushed constantly and it is awkward. It works on his body just fine, and I guess it is suitable for bigger pets. He doesn't mind it at all, but I struggle to guarantee all loose hair around his neck is gone.- I very much dislike the noise the brush makes when it runs through the coat. This is not an electric brush and it does not cut his hair - the teeth in the comb are very close together and this allows the undercoat to be brushed from loose hair. However it makes a scrapping noise, which I assume to be because the comb is metallic. Again, the cat doesn't mind it, I do.- It damn works! SO. MUCH. HAIR. The hairs don't fly away into my face, because the brush keeps them controlled. Also, every time I use it, a good handful of cat hair goes in the bin.I have been using it every three days or so - despite of my cat's obsession with brushing, I don't do it daily because I don't want to take too much hair from his undercoat. I noticed he is slimmer (I assume his undercoat is clearer now) but no bald patches or his coat stripped away, as some buyers mentioned. His coat is just shiny and smooth and gorgeous. My advise is:- if your cat/pet is a wriggly one, or prefers his neck/face brushed, I would recommend a smaller version of this 4 inch brush.- if your cat/pet likes to be brushed, this item is amazing. I think I would introduce brushing with a softer brush and then move to this one once your pet is accustomed to this ritual.- if you struggle with cat/pet hair, by all means, buy one of these things. Even though I mentioned a few (personal) "cons", the fact our pet hair issue is so much controlled makes me give 5 stars. My cat and I couldn't be happier!

no complaints
This brush worked a treat. I have a shar pei with a horse coat so his fur is short but think. He was very relax as he usually is when he gets a brush so wasnt at all rough on his skin. This brush definitely worked as a lot more dead hair was produced compared to a normal brush and his coat felt much smoother and softer afterwards as a result. The brush was a sturdy tool and overall good value for money. It was also delivered within days of ordering so overall im happy with this purchase.

Great alternative to the furminator
I'd been planning to buy a pukka furminator for a while but they are just too expensive and no doubt made in China for pennies anyway. So I decided to give this a go and I'm very impressed with it. It's great quality with a good weight to it and the comb prongs are perfectly formed. Very effective on my small short haired cats and surprising how much dead hair it removes. Best part is my cats love it, they purr and stick their backs in the air while I'm using it. I just let the weight of the comb do the work, no need to press it into the fur. For small cats it would be better if the comb was around 20mm narrower, but it's not a big deal.

Great brush for cats
I recently adopted a cat and he is losing so much hair it's driving me nuts so I got this deshedder and it works great and the kitty cat let's me brush him so we'll keep doing that until his fur improves. I highly recommend, great price and it does the job well!

Great dog comb
Used this on my elderly black labrador, have added some photos of the results. The comb was a bit smaller than I expected but works brilliantly. The dog was looking really tatty with moulting fur, so ordered this on Prime. Ordinary brushes and those pads with the metal hooks are useless, as one sweep and they are full of hair which takes ages to get out of the brush before starting again. This metal comb isn't at all scratchy on the dog's skin and the loose fur pulls off the comb in one hand movement. I kept an old bag nearby to put the loose fur in. Just 5 minutes - can't keep my dear old boy standing still any longer than this - of combing removed almost all the loose moult. Delighted with the results.

Good product for short haired dog only
The mechanism works well but better for a short haired dog as the teeth are short. It doesn't work fully on my Cocker spaniel unfortunately as only works on top coat.

Recommend for cleaning cat trees
I do not think I would use this on a pet, as it could be sharp. But it is a great tool for cleaning my cat tree, it collects all the hairs and they don't flutter around like they do when you use a dustbin and brush. I would 100% recommend for cleaning cat trees, to keep them looking clean and fresh. It does pull out tiny parts of the fabric, but not anything major to worry about, but that does put me off using it on animal. The 'blade' is detachable too, so that is very handy for cleaning it, I just wash it with soap and water in the sink now and then.

Unexpected Results
I bought this for my short haired puppy, to get those loose undercoat hairs. She hated it and it didn't seem to work on her anyway. BUT, I used it on my cat and its amazing. Now, this is the cat that hated being groomed and suffered terribly from hairballs, we've tried brushes, gloves, everything, he hated them all. He LOVES this and I just can't believe how much hair comes off of him. He lays there purring away while the pile of fur on the arm of the sofa gets larger and larger! Hairballs are greatly reduced too. This was a happy accident for sure!
