I've used it with a Canon compact camera and the results (compared with hand holding) are vastly better. Compacts with a viewscreen but no viewfinder are very difficult to hold steady. The monopod makes this dead easy, and the quality of my photos is greatly improved. The Manfrotto device is light, well made, and very quick to asemble and use. It’s easy to set up the legs to any length and once they are set, they feel secure. Because it doesn’t have the quick release plate that higher priced monopods come with, unscrewing the camera from the top between shots can be a bit of a nuisance and eventually could put stress on the threads of the mounting screw. I have a tripod with a quick release plate and it makes life easier. I still have to work out the best way for me to carry it with the camera attached. I wouldn’t recommend trying to use this as an ancilliary walking pole, with or without the camera attached.
