Much better than screen mount antennas. EDIT: 4 YEARS LATER, STILL GOING STRONG!
The signal strength using a screen mounted antenna has never been great however since upgrading my roof antenna to the Eightwood DAB antenna the reception has been almost flawless which isn't bad for my area as I live in somewhere rather hilly. Installation was relatively easy if not time consuming as some cars have a lot of trim to remove. I knocked a star off because having to unravel three long wires through the roof is a pain whereas other antennas have detachable cables to speed up the process. Tip: wrap the FM/AM wires together using tape to make a former wire which is easier to work with when threading through a car. You may also need to enlarge the hole for the antenna so it's probably best to check your existing antenna hole first and if needed, buy a tapered drill bit. This antenna needed a 19-20mm hole. Another tip: keep the power cable away from the antenna cables to reduce the risk of interference. EDIT 4 YEARS LATER: I've just upgraded my headunit again but can safely say this antenna is still working flawlessly and giving great signal in my area. The antenna can still be unscrewed, too, which is great as many of them seize up. I'd highly recommend this.

Good quality DAB / FM aerial
Update Jan 2024: the first one fitted to my car failed after 5 years so I bought another.. the signal on both DAB and FM became unstable so I assume the little internal amplifier died. After 5 years the new one was a drop in swap, using the old cables to pull the new through the bodywork. I still rate this 5* as it does the job so well and spent all that time in the outside being heated, cooled, dealing with damp and dry weather. Initial review: Relatively easy to fit, need to check the Dab fitting matches your radio module. Much better reception than a screen mount but obviously needs a hole cutting. The instructions leave a bit to be desired but pretty obvious if you are 'handy'.

Best DAB car aerial I have tried
I tried several different DAB car aerials before this one: I tried a booster/splitter which attached to my factory installed aerial, a JVC aerial which was DAB only and a Celsus DAB/FM/AM aerial. This is the best of the lot! The splitter either didn't work or didn't boost the signal enough so I got nothing from it. By comparison, the JVC aerial was powered by my car radio's powered SMB aerial socket and gave fantastic DAB reception but I had no FM or AM reception. The Celsus gave very good DAB and FM reception but no AM at all and the DAB aerial didn't work from the powered SMB connection, it only worked when the power lead was connected to the battery. This one does everything I wanted from all those others! The DAB reception is as good as the JVC, DAB can be powered by the car radio's SMB connector and the FM/AM reception is the best I've ever had in the car (the power cable needs to be connected to the battery to get that). It took a while to get there but I finally found the DAB aerial I was looking for - I've never had a dropout on reception. The only tricky part was that the bottom of the aerial is not flat, there's a round section around the fixing bolt that was bigger than the square hole my old aerial used. The round section is not that deep (maybe 2-3mm), but it meant that the aerial didn't sit flat and I preferred not to drill out a bigger hole in my roof so I cut out some thin rubber matting to size in order to seal the bottom of the aerial and get it to sit properly on the roof. Also, the fixing bolt that pokes through the hole wasn't as long as on the old aerial and so it took a little frustration to get the nut started but once it was fitted, it has worked perfectly.

Great aerial, although had to change power connector
This aerial provided the best signal out of the four I have tried. 'Signal boosters' to existing OEM aerial were no good. This one does the job. I did have to cut off the existing 'lug' 12V connector as it didn't connect to any point in my car or the stereo. Once I replaced it with a bullet connector it hooked up to my stereo (pioneer, blue antenna wire) no probs and provides 4/5 bars out of five everywhere I've driven so far.

Wish I'd bought this first
I was put off this product by the fact that it's double the price of others that "look" exactly the same so I bought the cheaper one. HUGE mistake. It fit really well but received zero dab stations. So I caved in to all the great reviews on here for this antenna. I started by just changing the top part and that improved reception by 80%. It still cut out occasionally but the dab stations were listen-able at least. Then a couple of months later I decided to change the base. I now get ALL the dab stations and when a station does cut out (in the lake district) it's easy to seek to a new clear station. The only downside is that the base does not fit my ford focus mk2 very well. When I originally mounted it the were gaps around the base and when it rained I got wet inside the car. I've now sealed the base with sealant so it doesn't leak, but it also doesn't look that great (but that's on me). Bottom line is it works brilliantly but be prepared to do some extra work in case the fit on your car isn't great.

Great for DAB no so much for normal radio
I live in the lakes and reception can be really hit 'n' miss. The aerial was simple to install but I work in the trade so... reception wise, it made a huge difference to the DAB signal which I was really pleased about! But it loses out on full stars because it made little to no difference to normal radio.

Amazing aerial!
Amazing aerial! I had one of the little stick-on windscreen aerials which was just OK in my driveway, but as soon as I drove out it was a case of squeaking and squawking from the DAB adaptor in the car. I have also tried those amplifier/splitters which just kill the signal, so this aerial was my last try to get DAB in my car. As my existing radio doesn’t have DAB I’m using a https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B074KY6XG1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 adaptor which I can’t recommend highly enough if your car doesn’t have DAB on the radio - this little thing plays DAB (and DAB+ broadcasts), MP3’s from a microSD card and music, podcasts or whatever from your phone via Bluetooth! Brilliant! Anyway back to the aerial… Before I started what would be a long and laborious task of replacing the existing external aerial with this I thought it would be a good idea to give it a quick try rather than go the whole hog to find out it didn’t work. So I wired it up to the stereo, DAB adaptor and battery and was very, VERY pleasantly surprised. With the aerial lying on the front passenger seat I was getting 4 out of 4 bars on the signal meter of the DAB adaptor, something which I had never seen before - the most I’d previously seen was 1 bar at best! So that was a good sign. Next day I spent a couple of hours pulling off trim panels, head lining, removing the old aerial and screwing this one on, routing cables etc and was very pleasantly surprised with the result. Went out for a drive and the DAB was flawless! In areas where I’d got nothing before (almost everywhere around my town which is about 40 miles from the main DAB transmitter mast at Divis) I was getting mostly 4/4 signal level. Some areas/stations dropped to 1/4 but the sound never faltered. Not once! FM remained about the same and MW perhaps a smidgen less, although I can’t be absolutely sure to be honest, but I can still drive around listening to Manx Radio from the Isle of Man clearly on 1368kHz, which is a good test for me being bang in the middle of Northern Ireland. So money well spent! Very highly recommended if you’ve given up on the stick-on windscreen types of DAB aerial, and may be a lot easier for you to fit, depending on your car. I knew mine was going to be awkward but many people may be able to get at the base of the old aerial through an interior light aperture. Wish I had! Lol!

Worked first time.
Bought this item as a last resort, but should have been my first go to! Don't bother with window stickers, or Antenna upgrade to your factory one as there no good. Fitting this one was a bit of a challenge, probably took me 2 hours in total. Its easy enough to pick up a live connection on the back of the radio once all cables rooted through headliner and trims into dash area. Step drill ideal to open up the antenna mounting hole on my Citroën Picasso. Make sure you paint any exposed metalwork before fitting the base in position... Connected everything up and got almost 30 DAB channel's almost immediately and 100% stable signal since. Would highly recommend this antenna system. I have a Pioneer head unit and it all works as I hoped it would and its a £200 mod to an older car...brings the radio bang upto date. The days of sketchy am radio 5 on a Saturday afternoon now a thing of the past!
