Q: Can anyone advise me on instructions of how to do this? do i need coal and then put this on top? or can i light this and put it on the burner?

Hi, this type needs coal or any burned wood ( when it turns to Amber) So, when the coal is ready, put it in a suitable burner or stone container, then place the incense on top of it, the incense will start to burn and smoke slowly. Good thing about handy small burner, whether it's made of glass, stone, metal, is that you could walk around the house and the smell will spread everywhere, within seconds, i do the same especially after cooking or when have guests. You could buy a fast ignite coal which some can be prepared with a stick of match or by putting it on tbe burner of the cooker, good luck

Q: Can I use this with an exotic burner - aka heating a copper dish with a tea light?

Yes you can. I use it with charcoal and a tea light.

Q: Does this emit any toxic fumes when burnt?

I'm unsure. I actually liked it at first but I went off it quite quickly. Especially when I noticed the difference in Oud wax melts compared to this, the difference was profound. The wax melts smelt 'fresher/natural' compared to the 'chemicalish aftershave (cheap) smell. I still have half of mine left in the jar, since the jars quite pretty. 🙃 Shop around because Oud is a really lovely smell.

Q: How much of this are you realistically supposed to put in for say a medium size bedroom

I would say at least 5-6 bits/pieces. And I’d advise you to use coconut coal, the normal coal let’s off a burning smell
