Greenkey Outdoor Tap Cover

My 6 year old tap cover of similar design had started breaking up so I bought this one to replace it. I soon got a good fit with minimal trimming and the cable tie type fittings were easier to apply than the little sharp plastic clips which required a bit of experimentation to get them properly fitted. I might use silicon sealant to glue the hard plastic cover to the spout insulating sleeve to prevent loss.

I saw this and liked the fact that the tap can still be used when fitted. Delivery was the usual efficient Prime service, arriving next day. Getting down to basics, this a simple kit. It amounts to some pipe lagging, two aerosol type caps to cover the operating parts of the tap, and a couple of cable ties to secure it. Fitting was really simple, the insulation opens up to slip over the tap. I had to trim mine which is very easy by checking how much to trim and then using a sharp kitchen knife on a breadboard! I fitted the kit with a hozelock connecter on the tap with no problems, and can still connect the hose. I don't think it will last more than a winter or two due to the materials but for about a fiver, and considering the alternative of a frozen tap/burst pipe, I think it's well worth it!

Took a bit of "crafting" to get it to fit the shape of my tap and wall but its a lovely snug fit now. I can just about connect and disconnect a hose lock hose to the tap with the cover in place but I expect over time this will wear out the foam and I'll have to buy a replacement cover - no biggy as they aren't overly expensive at this price.

Arrived ahead of scheduled delivery date. Fits tap without any need for adjustment but the supplied cable ties (2) were utterly useless; both snapping as I tried to tighten. fortunately had some more robust ones of my own. too early to comment on frost protection provided but will update if any further comments.

Some reviews say the cap keeps falling off, but I haven’t had any issue with it, and considering the recent storms if it was going to come off it should’ve by now. Happy with it.

Good Quality. Easy to install. Effective.

This works as described, a bit of cutting of the foam is required to make it fit snugly to the brass tap. Not sure how long the spray can lids will fit to the foam after some use but it’s okay at the moment. It also looks very neat far better than some tap insulation I’ve seen.

turned up in a few days and fitted it in a couple of mins. Easy to attach and can be trimmed to fit various tap types. only thing i can see being a small pain is you could loose the tap cover or outlet cover in summer unless you replace it after every use .still happy with the product and would buy another.
