Killing Trail: A Timber Creek K-9 Mystery Paperback – November 8, 2022

this is the first in the timber creek k9 series and the first book I have read by this author! I loved the book and looking forward to reading the next in the series soon. this realistic, informative, descriptive unpredictable story captured me on the very first page! I love Mattie Cobb and her K9 Robo! this action packed story is filled with lots of twists and turns, murder and mayhem and I could not put it down! I felt I was on the trail with Mattie, going through all she did and felt. Wonderful read! A real page turner and a must read!!

UPDATE: I just finished re-reading KILLING TRAIL and I'm off to re-read the second book in the series STALKING GROUND before I read the Advanced Reading Copy of the third book I received recently HUNTING HOUR, which is due out August 8, 2017.I revised my rating on this book from four stars to five after reading it again. I'm not sure whether the book has been revised since I read it last but I noticed many more descriptions of the Colorado landscape during this reading. Maybe I missed them last time or maybe they've been added but I just want to say I thoroughly enjoyed this story - every piece of it - this time around.This is the first book in a new series by author Margaret Mizushima. I was excited to read it because:1. It has a K-9 dog in it and I love dogs2. It takes place in Colorado, my favorite stateWell, the parts with Robo, the K-9 dog are great and believable. I liked Robo's handler, Deputy Mattie Lu Cobb, too. She's gone through a hard upbringing, is a loner because of it, and is great with Robo and with children.The story takes place in and around the fictional Colorado town of Timber Creek. And I was disappointed in the way the author portrayed the setting of the book. It was so generic it could be practically anywhere, not just in Colorado but in the U.S. When I read a story set in Colorado, I want to get the feeling that I'm actually there, breathing pine-scented air and enjoying the majestic mountains. I didn't get the feeling that the author had ever been in Colorado.This was a fast-paced mystery with a few twists and turns. I figured out who the bad guy was fairly early in the book but still enjoyed the rest of the story.I'm off now to read the second book in the series STALKING GROUND, which I received as an Advanced Reading Copy.

Full of suspense and terrific characters, and of course, spectacular dog. All the elements of a great mystery. It kept me totally engaged from the first page to the last.

I really liked this book. It kept me turning pages way after it should be lights out. Love the characters. Looking forward to this being a series. I’m ready for book 2.

I bought this book based on the sample I read. It was pretty good. I did also just buy Stalking Ground, but most likely won't buy any others due to price. I don't even pay that much for a book from my favorite authors (at least, rarely). So, I will enjoy Stalking Grounds and say goodbye to this author. If the books are every available on Kindle Unlimited, I'm all in - or at least a lot less expensive.

What an absolutely wonderful story. It even brought tears to my eyes. I am ready for book #2.Thank You Margaret!

The plot was good but it was slow moving with the storyline. Would have liked more action and twists. Ending was not very satisfying.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope my library will have the next ones in the series.

One of the best dog-related novels I have read. Especially Robo the dog is realy Great. Of course he is a „Special“ dog, but he is still a „dog“. And mattie Cobb is a great handler who Knows what she is doing. The Story is believable and very well written. I just feel sorry for the poor horse, because the vet doesn‘t seem to care as much as for the dogs.Anyway I really look forward to read the next book!

Realistic characters, incredible story, keeps you guessing. Real page turner. Best book I’ve read in a while and my first crime thriller.Took a few chapters to get going and then I couldn’t put it down. The characters develop well throughout and the story just keeps growing. Don’t want to spoil by saying anymore so just read it!!!

A great read, easy to read, can’t put down. Lots of interesting threads and a great story line. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
