Unique Bird Feeder - Cleaner Feeder 2 high welfare, easy clean hanging bird feeder. Keep food clean and dry, prevent the spread of disease

Pros:1) Small birds seem to like it (my main concern after reading reviews was that birds weren't going to use it: that wasn't the case for me - they found out within 2 days and have been using it every since.2) Pigeons and other larger birds don't seem to be able to use it (they hang around underneath and pick up any seeds dropped by the small birds, but I haven't seen them land on the feeder - the design would make it surprising if they could). Can't comment on squirrels as we've never had them in our garden.3) Early days, but the feeder fits a lot of seeds in and seems to only be used by smaller birds so I'm hopeful I won't have to refill it frequently3) Seems well made: the changeable base seems to work for taking off for washing (the recommendation is to turn the base to "off"to allow birds to finish the feed in the little trays and then take off the empty base to clean), and the feeder keeps the feed completely dry in wet weather.4) I've only used sunflower hearts so far, but I think it would work fine with any pellets / seeds. The divider is removable if you just want one type of feed.5) the unit is solid and doesn't swing about in the wind very muchCons:1) Personally the main barriers for me buying it were cost (£60 almost made me not buy it: I tend to try to buy well and buy once, but this seemed a lot even so), the risk that birds wouldn't use it (which hasn't been a problem), and having to guess how I could hang it...2) the unit doesn't come with either a tether or a ring that would go over a hook. This seems stingy given the price (£60). I happened to have a cheap carabiner which fitted through the holes at the top of the unit nicely and I used that to suspend the feeder from a hook mounted on the side of our porch (https://amzn.eu/d/7MrMQ7f Forge Round Hook 40cm 16in by Smart Garden Black). Works well, but requires the buyer or a friend to have some practical skills, particularly given the full feeder is quite heavy.Overall I am pleased with it and would recommend it for anyone who is in the market for a somewhat expensive but well designed feeder, as long as you are prepared to put a little bit of thought into how to mount it.

I really admire the thought & consideration for bird health that has gone into this feeder, it really is so well thought out.It’s a strong sturdy well made feeder that should last a very long time.Taking the base off for cleaning or refilling is very quick & easy & I like the fact it comes with a second base so one can be removed for cleaning while another is out for the birds.I haven’t cleaned the base yet but it should be very easy to do, & the design of the feeder means there is far less disinfecting & cleaning overall so it will save time as well as hugely benefiting the birds.I have peanut granules & mini suet pellets in mine at the moment both of which flow freely, I’ll probably be buying another soon for the finches sunflower hearts too.I did wonder if it would take the birds a while to figure it out but all I can say is I’m surprised how fast the food is going down.Overall a very good buy & for what you get I think the price is reasonable too.

Birds took to it quite nicely. Much easier to take apart and second perch given with this more expensive feeder. Meal worms don’t come out as quickly as I’d hope but all in all quite successful compared to the short fat one

If you want to save money on bird food, this feeder is for you, but it you want to actually feed the birds, this device should be avoided at all costs.We installed this feeder some weeks ago in an effort to improve the life of the birds in our garden, but the level of food has not gone down and we never see any birds using it. We have tried premium sunflower hearts and premium crushed peanuts, but the birds can't seem to find a way to actually use the feeder and eat the seed. This is a big disappointment to us as its not a cheap feeder, which makes it a poor purchase from our point of view, and I can't recommend this device to anyone.

Really pleased with my feeder. It’s big so I don’t have to keep refilling, which is useful because the birds took to it straight away! The food is kept clean and dry, even in bad weather and it’s really easy to swap the bottom out so I can clean that too. The birds love it and so do I!

The two bases that you can switch out for cleaning is a fantastic idea which works very well. So easy to keep clean. This is a good size too, I can fill it up and then change the base every couple of days. It took the birds a day or two to figure it out, but now they use it just as well as any other feeder.

Having already got a couple of bird feeders neither of them have been easy to clean, and having read about Finches Friend feeders I thought I would see how this one compared. The Cleaner Feeder 2 arrived well packaged and I was extremely impressed with the fact that it had an additional base. The birds took to it quickly and I was super impressed when it came to cleaning, a quick and easy process. Highly recommended.
