Babylon 5 Movie Box Set - Thirdspace/River of Souls/A Call to Arms [DVD]

this 3 pack of babylon 5 films contains one exceptional episode, one cool one and one which is a little bit rubbish. a call to arms follows on after the end of series 5 showing sheridan testing a new excalibur class starship before getting a vision urging him to be prepared for a coming disaster. he investigates with a crew of others who had similar visions and finds that the drakh still have a shadow planet killer left over, in the ensuing battle to protect earth he destroys the planet killer but fails to prevent the drakh dropping pathogens onto earth. it would have been followed by the cancelled babylon5 crusade series. the battle is quite brilliant and many of the ships some of the best babylon 5 offers. thirdspace is the "cool" episode, a starfury patrol finds an ancient object lurking in hyperspace and the crew investigate. the object attempts to open a bridge to a parallel universe from which an alien race attacks, this episode is high on starfury sequences and starts very well. this episode was babylon 5's attempt at a mixture of "alien" and "event horizon". river of souls is in short rubbish, an archaeologist brings an artefact onboard which starts causing chaos around the station. captian lochley attempts to stop it, it's one of the worst things babylon 5 has done. each film is 1.5 hours long approx and there are commentaries and some other special features, dvd is worth buying for " a call to arms" alone and "thirdspace" is a nice bonus.

I confess to being a little bit biased- I am now a Babylon 5 fan after may years of not having seen any of it. After having read some of creator J. Michael Straczynski's other works however, the series came highly recommended. So too does this set.Admittedly 'Thirdspace' doesn't seem to hit home as some of the other Babylon 5 movies do, but is still worth watching- it never seems to fully explain what it is that the B5 crew have come up against. 'A Call To Arms' and 'River Of Souls' however are right on the money- exceptional quality storylines and the bonus of my favourite (human) character from the series, Michael Garibaldi (Jerry Doyle).While all three movies have special effects that look very dated nowadays, the stories and performances are more than enough to offset it. Do not take Babylon 5 for a 'Star Trek' knockoff: 'Star Trek' has nothing on this. While 'Star Trek' was content to have most of it's storylines resolved within one or two episodes, 'Babylon 5' has stories that span whole seasons and further. While it may be difficult to determine where these films fit into the continuity of the series, they are still fantastic stories in their own right, and come highly recommended.

A great TV show that didn't have the baggage of ST DS9. I loved the concept of a five year plan, sadly the conclusion was rushed leading to confusion in terms of story, media distribution & spin offs.Good for the completest or those with an understanding of the TV show arc without the films/extended episodes.

HelloBabylon 5, the series, in my view, was the best story line in any sci-fi series on the box ever.When the first feature film was released, I wasn't too sure if I would like it.Wow,true to tradition,it was great.Having purchased this set of films from Amazon, I am thrilled with them.A good price for a box set.Whithout Amazon, I would not have been able to afford these films.One more thing about Babylon 5 movies, the theme of the series carries on in the films, which is quite unique in movies from series, wonderful.

Just watched all the series again ...what a great show the last episode leaves a lump in your throat. Any way the films box set Miss out in the beginning movie .. but these three are very good. Third space is set after winning the shadow war ... great spAce battles and Claudia Christian back in it so all good. River of souls is a bit b movie ish but still entertaining. Call to arms is brilliant great casting,story and action. Which leads onto the failed excallaber tv series

Nach 4 Monaten Wartezeit auf das Box Set die erste Enttaeuschung: Es sind nur 3 Filme: Thirdspace, The River of Souls und A Call to Arms."In The Beginning" und "The Gathering" fehlen. Ob sich der Preis für nur 3 Filme gelohnt hat? Weiss nicht.

Eso es lo que es. Ponen en la descripción que esta edición contiene idioma y subtítulos en español. Pero solo lo tiene UNA de las películas de este pack.Señores de Amazon, como empresa seria que creo que son, les ruego que dediquen algo más de tiempo y recursos en que las descripciones de los productos que venden sean correctos. Ya me pasó una vez con las pelis de Star Trek y ahora denuevo con este producto. A la tercera sabré en qué sitios online comprar.
