It's basically Garmin's answer to all of us military folks who used their earlier, more "civilian" version (the 401) on deployment. The 601/701 is industrial, made for hard use. To give you sense of it's purpose, the 701 variant calculates firearms ballistics, so that should tell you where they want this to go. You're better off with something simpler, lighter and less expensive like their tried-and-true 401 if you just need a path tracker. **Q: What is the onboard memory? And does it come with any topo maps?** A: Hello, The device does have onboard memory for tracks, routes, and waypoints but it doesn't have the option to load mapping on to the device. The watch will be preload with a Worldwide BaseMap. The map will include location of major highways and cites. Thanks Chris **Q: Does this provide both mgrs and lat/long?** A: Hello, Yes, it will provide both MGRS and Lat/Long on device. Thanks Chris **Q: Can you switch the output to ten digit grid format?** A: This device offers multiple position formats along with User Grid. Thanks Jenny ## Frequently Bought Together - Garmin 010-01772-00 Foretrex 601, 2 inches - TUSITA [2-PACK Tempered Glass Screen Protector Compatible with Garmin Foretrex 601, Foretrex 701 - HD Clarity Protective Film Protection - GPS Navigation Accessories - AAA Battery Storage Caddy by Storacell, Military Green, Holds 6 Batteries (Not included) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.ph/products/49330868-garmin-010-01772-00-foretrex-601-2-inches](https://www.desertcart.ph/products/49330868-garmin-010-01772-00-foretrex-601-2-inches) --- *Product available on Desertcart Philippines* *Store origin: PH* *Last updated: 2026-10-25*
