Hello depends on whether you want to be thorough or not or to get wet if you do not want to empty the water out first and see if the tap just unscrews. Also depends on whether the old tap just screws in to the barrel or has a nut inside which you will only know if you empty it first. I just unscrewed my tap got a bit wet and put the new one indiscarding the nut supplied and the rubber washer on the tap was quite sufficient to seal it
