Dav Pilkney has done a stupendous job of thinking and writing like a pre-adolescent boy. My five-year old son adored having all four books read to him (his seven-year old sister then "borrowed" them to read to herself), and my seven-year old nephew can't wait for the next one to come out. The stories were hilarious, perfectly pitched at a kid's sense of humour, and easy for all school-age children to relate to. They are an ideal enticement to a reluctant reader and the whole family will enjoy reading them together.
