KitchenAid KCM22GC 14-Cup Glass Carafe Black

Terrific ! I really liked the carafe that came with the Kitchen Aid coffee maker. We learned the hard way though, that placing it in the dishwasher must have damaged the lid seal. We could not pour without it dribbling. I ordered the new carafe knowing we would keep it out of the dish washer. What a pleasant surprise though. The new carafe is designed without the plastic ring at the top and it works just perfect. No more dribbling and no worry if someone mistakenly places it in the dishwasher.I hope all the new Kitchen Aid coffee makers come with this type carafe.RMM

This is the second replacement Carafe.The original was a bad design and leaked all over the counter. The glass broke and I had to order another. The replacement, The first replacement arrived and was made entirely of glass. If you look the picture it shows a plastic spout on top of the glass. This is what leaked, the coffee would run out under the spout. Bad design. To my great pleasure the carafe had been redesigned and no longer leaked. Then tragedy struck! the replacement Carafe broke! I jumped right on amazon to order a second replacement and I saw the picture above with the old style leaky spout/handle combo. I had to read down through the reviews to make sure it was the new and improved version. Satisfied that it was I ordered.So the review. Great product and a company fixed an obvious design flaw. So, product was NOT as described. If I was the seller, I would post a new picture and cross reference to the old part number. Explain this is a replacement for the original, but this one DOES NOT LEAK! Product arrived earlier than promised.

This carafe works perfectly. It is a different design, but fits precisely in our KCM 222 KA coffee maker. We did not have the problem with leaking on the original carafe that others have experienced. But, the handle broke off from the rest of the pot. The only problem with this order was that delivery seemed to take forever (hence 4 rather than 5 stars). It is an excellent replacement carafe if you need one.

The item received is not what is pictured... Although it works in the coffee maker, the item received does not have the black rim around to the top of the carafe. The handle clips directly onto the glass. The pour spout is different as well; since the black rim and pour spout are not present, the pour spout is simply built into the glass carafe. We will see how long the carafe lasts without the additional handle support, since this is a high use coffee maker.

Identical replacement for my coffee maker. The original pot started leaking through the rim (I thought it was a poor pour design). Then one day the full glass pot completely separated from the handle/rim/lid assembly - what a mess. I had been running the pot through the dishwasher - now I hand wash and so far no troubles. It would just be nice if they were durable enough to run through the dishwasher but handwashing is no big deal.UPDATE: Even with hand washing the pot eventually leaks from the rim which makes a real mess when you pour coffee. I'm an engineer and I believe this pot has a serious design flaw which I cannot believe KitchenAid has not addressed - especially with all of the comments. I replaced the whole maker because of this and went with a different manufacturer.

I hope this review finds its way to the top of the heap to let others know that the pot I received is DIFFERENT than the one shown (with black upper ring). It is now all glass with the exception of the handle, lid and metal band around the bottom. No more leaks from under the black top ring! Looks like KitchenAid finally addressed the problem all of us had with the old style pot!!! Works flawlessly.

Amazon did another great job making the purchase quick and easy-no complaints there. KitchenAid on the other hand really missed the 'design class' on this product. My wife and I chose the KitchenAid Architect Series because they were stylish, and appeared to have a solid construction to match our commercial grade large appliance items. Not the case in the coffee department. If you are looking for a coffee maker that has a leak-free carafe, don't buy this one. The original started leaking between the plastic band at the top and the carafe itself, where the 2 meet. When you pour a cup of coffee, it immediately runs between the 2 and back down the outside of the carafe onto the counter, floor, or whatever else it happens to be underneath it at the time. I thought it may have just been a singled-out flaw in the original, however the replacement we purchased leaked within 1 week of purchase. It is even more loose than the original was. If this was the "architect series", I would have hate to have purchased a house designed by this architect. Terrible design!

My old carafe was leaking so badly that I was thinking of disposing the whole coffee maker. This replacement carafe though a bit expensive works as a great replacement because they have redesigned the carafe with this version. No more leaks. By the way, the picture here is not representative of the actual unit because the replacement carafe does not have the black plastic rim over the glass. The plastic portion is only on the handle and that why the new design does not leak like the old one.
