Has anyone used this product in application with desktop computers? Wondering if this would be useful for high dust/air particulate environments.

I use this for mine. I built a frame out of magnetic strips and attach across the vent openings on the outside of the case. great airflow and high dust capture. .. simply blow out with compressed air , vacuum or wrinse off , snap them back on and you're away laughing.

Would you call this filter "spongy?". I don't know how to describe the filter I would like to replace. To be used as a furn. filter for a mobile home.

It is spongy. I used this to replace a filter in back of a electric space heater. I did cut it to fit. Works great.
