Typhoon Adult Silicone Mask and Snorkel Set - Blue

I was sceptical at first as they were quite cheap compared to others but they did their job perfectly replacing my old ones. The snorkel is especially nice. Very easy to breath through and lets in no water except in extremly choppy sea.

I purchased this mask set in blue for the Med. It only got one use, although that is not a criticism of the product but just highlights my stupidity.The waves were pretty rough and I took the mask & (fitted) snorkel off after a fab 2 hour snorkelling session, somehow I let go of them & lost the lot in the surf... Absolutely gutted...My subsequent local purchase of a slightly inferior silicone mask & snorkel (that leaked slightly, provided less visibility & fogged easily) highlighted just how good the Typhoon kit was...My findings:1) I have quite a "different" shaped face (if you ask my wife, that is... the old flatterer!!). Part of the spec's for the Typhoon mask state that it fits a wide range of face shapes. I would say that this is correct, as I noted no leaking even when very lightly strapped. The mask fit out of the box just by applying a little pressure to the mask (just suction & good seal keeping it in place alone).2) It is a silicone mask (ie the rubber is optimal as concerns comfort & seal).3) All masks seem to fog a bit (even after treating with toothpaste etc). All I can say is that the Typhoon mask was much better than the other one as concerns this. Visibility was excellent... I know this as the replacement I had to purchase had the same clear silicone rubber, but this one did have distracting black plastic components that "worried" my peripheral vision. I kept having to look to my sides, as it looked (on occasion) as if there was something looming behind me... This detracted from the fun...The Typhoon mask does therefore provide amazing panoramic vision (although with the "Stealth" black version, the peripheral vision limit will obviously not be as good).This issue might not occur to buyers of the Stealth version, so please take it into consideration unless you happen to be James Bond or you are a navy seal!!!4) There are a lot pricier masks out there, and I find it difficult to visualise how they might offer the same (or better value) for money.5) The snorkel that comes with it is wholly decent & does everything stated well. The purge valve effectively shifts small amounts collected water simply by blowing through the snorkel forcibly when the snorkel base is above water. The silicone mouthpiece is comfortable & watertight. There is an emergency whistle (nice touch) incorporated in the construction.I was really upset that I lost mine so early in my relationship with it (although my wife is still dining out on the tale).PS: Search around for the best price, as this set is for sale many different places on Amazon.I recommend it unreservedly!
