Awesome speaker phone
I like having my hands free when talking on the phone; and if it is a long conversation I like to move around and not be tethered to a cord leading from the headset to the base. The speaker phone feature on this phone works so well that I never use my cordless phone or my headsets any more. Also, I'm sometimes required to participate in classroom classes, where I must participate over the phone because of my distance from the classroom. This phone does an excellent job of picking up the class facilitator, since they typically speak loudly and clearly. As long as a classmate does not mumble, you can hear them as well; but if they mumble the facilitator typically asks them to speak up (especially if you ask). Also, when I say something, the rest of the classroom can hear my words as well as voice inflections. Plus, since this phone uses 120v electricity instead of battery, when the classes run long, the signal does not peter out and eventually become inaudible (as happened with my cordless phones). In fact, I removed the handset from this phone, and I set up the phone to be exclusively a speaker phone for all my calls.

Great for people with difficulty hearing
We bought this for my wife's 96 yr. old dad 2 years ago and the sound quality and volume control are excellent. He is not a technology person and struggled with using a cell phone we had tried. This phone has receiver volume control as well as ring volume control. The only downside of the phone is that it comes with an automatic 4-rings before going to voicemail feature. I think I've read you can contact your carrier to increase the number of rings. I haven't done this yet but will follow up this review once we get that figured out, if possible. Kind of makes it difficult if you're older and can't get to the phone quickly. Otherwise, a great phone for hard of hearing folks. Nice large number pads for dialing as well!

Maybe I just got a bad one
This phone was a great disappointment. After installation the phone was called. It was able to be answered, but, the volume would fade up and down, sometimes completely out. Static on the line. Wire connections both to wall, and handset seemed to have poor connection. All in all I could never recommend this phone.

It is loud but annoying hissing and back ground sound
This phone works well but at high volume (decibels) it has some hissing and a little static. It's not as clear as should be when the boost is on. As a regular phone without using the boost and high volume it works well. The speaker sounds much better than the handset but everyone and your neighbors can hear it. On the other end I was told that I sounded like I was in a can. I's also easy to use.

Greatest phone ever.
I am very deaf and have trouble finding a phone that I like. I had an old one that worked pretty good but it died. My hearing gets worse every year as I have deteriorating nerve condition. I hate the phones that you have to hit the boost button every time you pick up the phone, then adjust the volume. That is stressful and takes a long time before you can hear anything. The best feature is the amount of volume and once you set the boost and volume, it stays - just pick it up and you are at the perfect setting. I have it on boost and at about half of the volume control. I just ordered 2 more for my office and bedroom. I do live alone so no one picks up the phone but me. I read a complaint about warning people about it being too loud. My goodness, if you know the person has a hearing problem and a loud phone, why do you need to be warned - you should just know! Leaving the boost on is the greatest feature for me. If you have one of those other phones, you know what I am talking about.

This works well enough for moderate - severe hearing impairment from aging
While it works it has been a godsend talking to my 93yo father over the phone. Does have something that breaks down after a year. It's not cheap but I keep buying them because only thing that works.

Best Ever
Bought this for my 95 year old mother with a significant hearing loss. She previously had a phone with a screen that gave her a print-out if her conversation as she talked but I don’t think she actually read it anyway. She moved to a nursing home where they could not provide the hard wired connection to a router that was required for that type if phone. We bought her this phone as an alternative. This has worked better than any phone she’s had in the past. It us definitely the loudest. The “boost” button is equivalent to “speaker” volume. It is also very easy to set up and use.

PERFECT PHONE for senior citizens with hearing and memory loss!!
This phone is PERFECT for someone with serious hearing loss. Purchased it for my 95 year old mother who could not remember to push amplification button on the phone she had. The best feature of the phone is that the amplification is ON by default and the senior citizen does not have to remember to do anything but pick up the phone to talk. The buttons are big with large numbers, which is also a plus. Mom wears over the ear hearing aids and has zero problems using the handset. This phone is an absolute GOD SEND to anyone who has an aging parent with hearing/memory problems!! We are finally having meaningful conversations with Mom because she can actually hear us!
