Perfect for my requirements
Let me start by saying it is the rain gauge function that I bought the instrument for, and not the associated thermometer which I do not use. I cannot see how the temperature readings can be accurate when the gauge has to be placed in the open in order to have unobstructed rain collection - I would assume (but have not checked) this will almost certainly mean that at some stage during the day the instrument will be in full sun resulting in elevated temperature readings. As a rain gauge it functions very well - I could not have wanted better for the money. Doubtless there is room for some inaccuracy (I would imagine that during exceptional rainfall the tipper collection bucket could be overwhelmed) but it is far better than a basic collection container and the readings are zoomed back to the monitor and stored to be looked at later. One problem I have come across is that leaves occasionally blow into the collecting unit and block the exit. I have solved this by stretching a piece of very fine plastic mesh netting across the top without any apparent interference with the readings.I have previously had a tipping bucket rain gauge as part of an integrated weather station, but as I have found to my cost, the more functions an instrument performs the more complicated it becomes to get satisfactory readings from each of the parts. To have this rain gauge as a separate item is a perfect compromise. The rain gauge was very easy to set up and at a distance of less than 20m between gauge and monitor I had no problems whatsoever with the signal. The monitor records current rainfall and also cumulative rainfall, and the 'since' button will show the time when the current rainfall started, or the total rainfall since the time and date the gauge was reset. There is also a useful graph function which can be used to display the rainfall for various consecutive periods. For my requirements this rain gauge is excellent. For a while it seemed to be unavailable and as I was considering buying one as a present for someone else I looked at other similar options on the market. Unless I wanted to spend a lot more money, none of them compared favourably with this one.Big relief that it is now available again - I shall be buying another soon!

Where to put it?
Seems to do the job. It's quite large so it was a challenge finding a good place to locate it - high up but not on a flat surface et.c. On the other hand it's size makes it seem much sturdier than the'combined' weather stations we've had in the past.

Easy enough to set up
This is the second of these units I have bought. Easy enough to set up, and I have found them completely reliable in operation. There are many weather stations at a wide variety of prices. I don't believe any of them that claim to predict the weather. For records of what has happened, this is the best that records rainfall. Because it empties itself every time the reading increments, there is no need for any maintenance other than to replace the batteries once a year. The current and min/max temperatures, both inside and outside are useful, but when sun is shining on the outside unit, it reads higher than the 'official' temperature. Therefore, if possible, use a shady position while still being far from obstacles that would affect the rainfall reading. In summary, it is useful for recent rain and temperature readings, and will let you know the worst frost you have had or the amount of rainfall on your garden, even if you've gone away from home for a month.

Excellent product
As a remote recording rain gauge it is well made, a good design (compared to the weird square or oblong ones) and over a month the data has been close enough to my manual gauge to satisfy me. Recommended for this purpose. However, I don't understand why they should waste time and materials adding a temperature sensor. The inside of a rain gauge seems about the worst place for it. Meteorologically the Max temps, especially when sunny, will be much too high and have no bearing as to what the true value should be and Min temps would also have a reduced value. An excellent rain gauge, rest unnecessary.

Waste of time and money
Cheap, inaccurate and after a couple of weeks failed to register rainfall at all (including last night’s ‘biblical’ downpour). Placed in the open, units linked and for a couple of days it worked, then nothing apart from a wholly inaccurate outside temperature recording. Item was returned.

Useful bit of kit
Easy to set up! Really useful bit of kit to work out how much I need to irrigate and when.

excellent kit. good value. recommend.
I have had this for a few weeks now and also had plenty of rain. I have used my usual rain gauge to check the accuracy of the electronic gauge. It's very good in all respects. Well made and easy to use. Has a good signal range between the gauge outside and the monitor. It sits on my office desk. No more emptying the old gauge after its rained, stay inside and read it off the monitor. Excellent.

Only worked for 16 months
Bought in May 2017 and it has failed to transmit by October 2018. No way to repair or just buy the Transmitter. I should expect a longer life. Did work well for 16 months.
