My family uses nickels instead of tokens and the winner of each round gets all the nickels played. We create a bank of nickels to buy from and at the end of the game, we have a raffle for all the money in the bank (sans starting amount of nickels). Great fun, bingo for adults and the game materials are study and well made.

In my family we used to play this game all the time for our family nights & it would provide us with hours of fun. If you are looking for a good game to play and generate discussion with the people playing then this it the game for you. It involves the "luck of the draw" from your deck cards, but that's what makes this game exciting (especially for people who don't like to play games with a lot of skill). This game is also great for families with young children because they can join in on the fun!Other features of the game is that you can play Pokeno in 5 different ways. The four corners Pokeno is especially fun because you play it by points, and with a large group of people it encourages multiple rounds of play and lively discussion especially for those who get competitive with the points! For example, we played four corners Pokeno up to 25 points keeping track of the points & allowing players to switch our their cards until someone won the game. It made for a really fun night! It will also be a great addition to any Poker or Casino night!Get both Pokeno and Pokeno No. 2, it is worth the investment for game play with large groups or groups large enough to use two cards a piece. Also, you may want to consider purchasing extra chips in case any get lost or if you end up playing consistenly with large groups.

I used to play this with my relatives during major holiday get togethers. We placed $0.05 and $0.10 and sometimes $0.25 bets on a paper plate for up to 4 kinds of wins given on the game directions such as Four of a Kind, Straight Flush, Flush, and Po-Ke-No. A game did not end until a person wins Po-Ke-No. Sometimes a pot can accumulate a lot of change and can cause great excitement during the game! I was glad to see that this board game still existed and that I was able to find such a set for such a great price! It was a wonderful game back then during my teenage years, a lot of laughter, and great times and memories with immediate and extensive family members. If you were too young to get into casinos like I was back then, this allowed me to take part in adult fun with parental and family guidance and have a great time with everyone! I would recommend this to all families who are looking to have some cheap version of Las Vegas built into their family and friends events while having something really exciting to play all at the same time!

A good choice for a large group, and they are all different, HOWEVER portions of some of the boards are necessarily duplicated. For example, there are only 13 different denominations of cards in a deck so it will be possible for more than one person to get 4 of a kind for example at the same time in some cases. So you might have multiple winners in a game played. Examples are, we sometimes play a game where the first player with a straight wins, or 3 of a kind, or 4 of a kind, the 4 corners, the large square, or the smaller square, a flush or others- just to change things around for variety over the course of the night. The options are endless. Generally over the years we've played using 3 small bowls with 1 designated for the first person to get the center square, 1 for the first player to get the 4 corners covered, and the last one for the player who wins the game as designated. The first 2 pots are only paid if obtained prior to a winner, otherwise they roll over into the next round. The original version of this game included 2 different types of chips, one to use for marking the cards, and the second for the betting. We use magnetic bingo markers with this version to mark the cards since only one type of chip is included. I guess you could substitute pennies or something similar as well if you wanted.All in all it's provided a lot of fun for the family over the years and has replaced bingo as the game of choice at the assisted living facility recently.
