Ernest Jones' Swing The Clubhead method

Imagine swinging a weight at the end of a string
Excellent book. I have played golf all my life and played off scratch at one point. I was struggling with my game and came across this book after listening to the On The Mark podcast by Mark Immelman. This so different to modern teaching and means you create incredible club head speed and the centrifugal force keeps the club head on plane. In fact, the faster you swing the straighter it goes. Works for short chips too. I used it this weekend to get my first ever hole in one. 216 yd’s into the wind with a 3 iron. Never left the flag. Try this method. You will be surprised and also it requires much less effort so you will not be so tired after playing a round.

Simple Golf
I've long been a fan of Ernest Jones' "Swing the Clubhead" method ever since I first read of it in Ken Adwick's articles in the Golf World magazine back in 60s or 70s. The fundamental theory of the book is that you can't move the clubhead faster than you can swing it. I believe that Jones is largely right in his assessment that all other body positions are followers rather than leaders of the clubhead. They occur as the natural movements / responses of the body to the act of swinging. You never focus on body movements when throwing a stone or a ball. You just do it naturally and with ease. Consequently, the body movements / positions should not be the focus of golf instruction. Some have commented that the book is too repetitious and I will grant that the message "swing the club head" is the chorous continuously repeated throughout the book. However, the repetition might be needed today to counteract much of the highly technical messages of golf instruction today based on analysis of photos and films of the tour pros. Ernest Jones would say that you don't hit the ball with your legs or forearms or hands. you hit it with the club head. So swing it.

Best golf instruction book ever.
Best golf instruction book I ever read. After 27 years of frustration I have learned how to swing the club.No wonder Jones's fellow teaching professionals did not like him, he could have made them redundant !
